William Jackson Harper Does Not Have a Wife, He Is Dating Ali Ahn

Although Cristin Milioti plays William Jackson Harper's wife onscreen, the Texas-born actor has yet to tie the knot offscreen despite nearly a decade-long relationship with his girlfriend, Ali Ahn. However, their current relationship status is unclear.

William Jackson Harper is an actor and producer who moved to New York in the early 2000s to pursue his theatrical aspirations. He has since starred in over 40 series and movies, including his notable performances in productions such as "The Resort" and "The Good Place."

While the actor has played some romantic roles, he has also proved to his fans on social media that he also had real-life romance. He has been dating Ali Ahn. However, it has been over two years since the two actors last posted content together as a couple.

William & Ali Haven't Shared Any Pictures Together Recently

Ahn and Harper were dating other people when they first met while performing in theatre in the same show in New York. However, when they shared the stage during a production of "Romeo and Juliet," they were both single, and he said:

"It just spiraled up into the sky from there."

The couple took to Instagram to share pictures of each other as far back as 2018. In December of that year, Ahn posted a photo of her and Harper at the beach in honor of his Critics Choice Awards nomination.

"Guess who got nominated for a fancy award today?! So proud of the goof @williamjacksonharper!" she captioned the post. In September 2019, they were each other's dates for the Emmys Performers Nominee Reception.

While Ahn opted for a black dress with cutouts to show some skin, Harper donned a grey chequered suit. "Look at my lady. No seriously. Look at her," the actor affectionately captioned the post in part.

The couple made another public appearance at the Critics Choice Awards in January 2020. In February 2020, Ahn celebrated her partner's birthday with a celebratory tribute that read:

"Another sentimental birthday post. To the funniest, kindest dude I know other than Chico. Happy birthday, @williamjacksonharper. May this next decade be as delicious as the moment in this photo."

However, Ahn's last post featuring Harper was in May 2021, when she took to Instagram to share a snap of him from behind, glancing at a massive poster of his film, "The Underground Railroad," in Times Square. Harper's last post of his lady was a year before, in September 2020, and showed the lovebirds posing with their dog.

His Girlfriend, Ali Ahn, Is Also an Actress

Ahn proved Harper wasn't the only talented actor in the relationship after sharing the screen with Keri Russell in the new hit Netflix series, "The Diplomat." However, Ahn's acting career stretches back to 2006 when she starred in the short drama "That Simple."

She is also known for her roles in "Liberal Arts" in 2012, "Billions" in 2016, and three episodes of "Orange is the New Black," co-starring Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon in 2018. Her successful acting career has seen her garner over 13,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing.

During an interview earlier this year, the actress gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at her life and childhood. "I've always been pretty athletic and dabbled in dance when I was younger," Ahn said. She also touched on her signature 'I woke up like this' hair and "simple" makeup routine. She revealed:

"Most of the time, I play around with makeup, it's for auditions, and I find it fascinating how much makeup, or lack thereof, can change the way someone is perceived and received."

As for her fit physique, the actress created a "consistent routine" that left her feeling "grounded and empowered" amid the craziness of show business. "I do a combination of running, yoga, and pilates six days a week," Ahn shared.

William Also Has an Onscreen Love Life

In 2021, Harper added another acting credit to his list when he was cast as a romantic lead in "Love Life" on HBO Max. The show's second season follows Marcus—played by Harper—as he juggles his life love, filled with multiple love interests.

In the show, Harper shares the screen with many talented actresses—including Anna Kendrick. And despite all the emotional, dramatic, and steamy scenes, the actor revealed that some of his favorite shots were in the sixth episode.

In the sixth episode, his and Jessica Thompson's characters spent most of the time simply walking around and talking. He said:

"That felt special. There's something about taking that time in a TV show to just live with characters. It feels really salient and important to me because I think that TV, so often, is very much about just moving to the next thing and not sitting too long with any one state."

Harper added that while he appreciated how the dynamism of television shows kept viewers engaged, he enjoyed slowing things down and "meditating," which is what it felt like to film that episode with Thompson.

Another Onscreen Romance Where William Is a Married Man

In his other well-known series, "The Resort," Harper finds himself on the other end of the love spectrum as he plays a long-time married man in a relationship at a crossroads.

Emma and Noah, played by Harper and Cristin Milioti, arrived at a Mexican hotel in honor of their 10th anniversary with differing attitudes toward the relationship. Harper shared that while Milioti's character is hunting for something with more "excitement," his character is content with "just being content."

Although Harper's career has often seen him play the leading man, the actor revealed that after spending much time playing supporting roles in theatre, being the show's star was not what attracted him to parts. "That's not the driving force at all. I don't need to be the lead; I just need the part to be interesting," the actor said.
