Andrea Riseborough's Husband: The 'To Leslie' Actress Is Not Married, Though She Is Dating a Former Co-star

Andrea Riseborough's known dating history isn't long, but the actress has been deeply in love from what she has shared about her former flames. The former co-star she is dating was her onscreen lover in 2020's "Luxor."

Hailing from Northumberland, England, Andrea Risebourough drew her first breath in Newcastle upon Tyne on November 20, 1981. Her career as a performer began on stage, studying at the acclaimed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

She graduated from the esteemed institution in 2005 and had already debuted onscreen. Her first role was in the satirical TV film "A Very Social Secretary," following the story of Home Secretary David Blunkett's affair with publisher Kimberly Quinn.

Riseborough also starred in "Whatever Love Means," a dramatized depiction of Prince Charles's relationship with Camila Parker Bowles. The actress has mainly been cast in films, with a few brief appearances in TV shows like "Bloodline," "Waco," and "ZeroZeroZero."

She is chiefly recognized for her role in the critically acclaimed comedy-drama, "Birdman." Fans may also recognize her from 2013's "Oblivion," 2017's "Battle of the Sexes," and 2020's "Possessor."

However, recently, Riseborough was embroiled in a controversy regarding her Oscar nomination for her 2022 film "To Leslie." The movie only pulled in $22,000 at the box office and didn't garner much attention until various celebrities hosted screenings supporting Riseborough.

Many saw this as Riseborough "campaigning" to score a nomination, but it appears she has put the controversy behind her. The Hollywood starlet seemed unbothered and in love at the Vanity Fair Oscars party following the award ceremony.

Andrea Riseborough Called Her Former Partner, Joe Appel, Her 'Prince'

Joe Appel is in the entertainment industry like Riseborough but has only worked behind the scenes. He served as a film editor for Sesame Street in the 1980s and as a crew member for "Broad Street Bullies" and "A Most Violent Year," starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain.

He and Riseborough are believed to have begun their relationship in 2009. The couple guarded their relationship's privacy but attended many public events, including the "Jessica Paster for JustFabulous" Holiday Collection celebration party in November 2011.

In January 2012, Riseborough gushed about Appel, saying, "I've never seen myself as one who exists purely in terms of finding the perfect partner and living through them."

She continued, "But, having said that, I think I’m terribly lucky. I think I've found my prince." Riseborough moved to Los Angeles to be with Appel in 2014; however, it's unknown when they separated.

Andrea Riseborough Fell in Love with Her Partner, Karim Saleh, on the Set of 'Luxor'

Riseborough once spoke about working with and falling for Karim Saleh in "Luxor," saying, "It was two weeks of connection. It's something that we'll always treasure. It was totally unexpected."

The "Please Baby Please" actress remarked that perhaps she and Saleh did their jobs "too well." They star as onscreen lovers, Hana and Sultan, in "Luxor." The pair shared more details about how their relationship began in a December 2020 interview.

Their affection for each other grew stronger with their characters' chemistry development. Saleh admitted to pretending it wasn't there, but neither could deny their spark. They've grown closer since and still attend public events together, appearing very much in love.

Karim Saleh Is a Talented Actor in His Own Right

Saleh drew his first breath in Lyon, France, on March 7, 1978. He grew up in Lebanon and found solace in films within the war-torn country. The actor idolized Hollywood heavyweights like Robert de Niro, Marlon Brando, and Al Pacino.

His parents supported his decision to become an actor but were only comfortable sending him to hone his craft in a London drama school. However, he was kicked out and moved to New York City, where his career took off.

His breakout role was Ziad Jarrah in the 2005 war drama "The Hamburg Cell." Some of his best performances were also in "Munich," "Kingdom of Heaven," the series "Transparent," and "Counterpart."
