82-year-old Amos has had three marriages in his life. His first was to Noel Michelson from 1965-1975. Together the couple welcomed two children, one of whom is Amos' daughter, Shannon. Amos also has a son named K.C.
They both followed in their father's footsteps and pursued a career in Hollywood. Shannon works as a producer and writer, while her brother is an actor, director, writer, and producer. K.C. is best known for his role in "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
Amos' second marriage was to Lillian Lehman for a year from 1978-1979. Amos then found the love of his life in Elisabete De Souse, and the couple has been married since 1982.
Initially, it seemed that Amos and his daughter shared a close and loving relationship, with Shannon championing her parents for going against laws that did not allow them to marry in 1965.
Shannon recalled a story of how she didn't know her parents were of different races. She found out when she was five years old when a man at a gas station pointed a weapon at her father and warned him to get off his property.
The young woman admitted her world had changed that day, and her parents had to explain what had happened and why the man was so angry at them for being on his property. Her innocence vanished.
In June 2020, when the Black Lives Matter movement reached one of its peaks, Shannon once again posted a photo of herself and her father, talking about the family land they had recently spent some time on and the history behind it all.
Shannon and her father appeared in a strong stance in the photo, showing their bond and pride in their heritage. In June 2021, Shannon again took to Instagram to share sweet snaps of herself and her father for his birthday. Their bond appeared solid and close.
Shannon Lied About Her Father's Illness
In 2023, Shannon released information that shocked and upset Amos' fans. She claimed that she and her father had a horrific experience when Amos fell victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation.
She took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and her father and said that he had phoned her to tell her he was in a hospital in Tennessee and was in immense pain. Shannon was out of the country then but said she arranged for help to get to her father.
After Amos was placed in ICU, Shannon said she found out her father's life was hanging by a thread. She then revealed he had been a victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation, and despite not saying by who, she mentioned they were working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations.
Shannon shared that her father's home had been stripped bare and that they needed to restore it so he could return there for his recovery. She then asked that anybody willing to donate to the cause follow a crowdfunding link in her Instagram bio.
Shannon expressed that she had a $500k goal to help restore her father's home to its former state and facilitate his speedy recovery when he was discharged.
However, days after Shannon released the information, Amos countered, saying his life was in no danger and that he had no idea why his daughter might set up a GoFundMe account for him and his home.
Belinda Foster, Amos' representative, confirmed that Amos had been hospitalized because the lower half of his body had been filling with fluid and causing issues with his heart. She then clarified that doctors had cleared it, and Amos was making a 100% recovery.
Amos' Son is By His Side As He Denies Shannon's Claims
Recently, Amos' son, K.C., took to Instagram to share a video of himself and his father in the hospital. K.C. stood by his father's side as Amos gave a statement, clarifying that he had been hospitalized for water retention and had his son by his side.
Amos mentioned he was confident in his team of doctors and what they did to help him feel better. He then began talking about what had been happening with him and his daughter before he went into the hospital.
Amos said he felt his daughter had taken advantage of him and then very clearly stated:
"She’s the one I would attribute my elderly abuse to."
In the caption, K.C. mentioned that it was a difficult situation and that anybody making snap judgments should think twice about what they were saying and who they were saying it about. Soon after, Shannon responded.
She sat in her car as she filmed a video talking about what was happening between her and her father. She said news outlets had only shared half the story and that there was another side to what was shared.
She said she wanted news outlets to report the news surrounding her father accurately and check with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations to see that there was indeed a case open with them.
Shannon also claimed that Foster was a travel agent and not a rep for Amos after saying her father was embarrassed by her setting up the GoFundMe page, despite it being in his best interests to do so.
Amos' daughter then encouraged his fans to "do some homework" about the story, saying everything she had said was real and that news outlets could contact her for the real story. Shannon confirmed that her family, lawyers, and father's closest friends stood with her.
