Is Tom Ellis Gay? The Actor Is an LGBTQ+ Ally & Is Married to a Woman
His camp portrayal of the bisexual lead in "Lucifer" has some viewers wondering, is Tom Ellis gay? As yet, the actor has only been in heteronormative relationships.
There is no evidence to suggest that Tom Ellis is gay, and he has never felt the need to clarify his sexuality in the media. The father of three has been married twice to cis women.
Through his body of work and social media posts, the Netflix star has proven to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community and a very devoted fan of "Queer Eye."
Tom Ellis Supports Pride "Every Day" of His Life
Not even Tom Ellis' wife's hair is off limits in his quest to befriend the Fab Five from "Queer Eye." The actor tweeted in mid-2019 that nothing since Steven Spielberg's "E.T." has made him cry as much as the LGBTQ+ friendly show.
"It never fails to make me cry and smile. Please, can me and my wife be your friends? She has Amazing hair @jvn," he concluded the fanboy tweet tagging the group's grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness.
A month later, he posted on social media, "Proud to be supporting #pride every day of my life. Happy #pridemonth to all LGBTQ friends and loved ones."
During Bisexual Awareness week in September 2021, a Netflix Twitter account highlighted the bisexuality of Ellis' "Lucifer" character, Lucifer Morningstar, with a cheeky quote, "I'm so good at flipping men they call me 'The Skillet.'"
The Welsh actor had an affair with Emilie de Ravin of "Lost" fame.
The account drove the point home by following up with a tweet that denounced "bi erasure." In the show, Lucifer has lovers of both sexes.
