Miss Benny's Partner: She Was in Relationships Where Her 'Femininity Was Subject for Negotiation'

At a young age, Miss Benny compromised "the colorful parts" of her true identity with her former partners and in pursuing her dreams. The actress has since come out as a transgender woman and has opened up about the similarities between her and her character's dating experiences.

Miss Benny has become a fan-favorite for her portrayal of Marco Mejia in Netflix's "Glamorous." In the steamy dramedy, the actress finds herself in a love triangle and shares that there are similarities between her and her character.

Miss Benny revealed that she had a former partner who also tried to dim her light but has since embraced her transgender, nonconforming identity she kept secret for years.

Miss Benny Opened Up about What Her Relationships with Her past Partners Were Like

When Miss Benny was 14, she relocated from her hometown of Texas to Los Angeles to establish her identity as an actress. Instead, the "Glamorous" star, who has acted alongside Kim Cattrall, was met with professional rejection and unpleasant experiences with partners. Miss Benny said:

"I entered relationships where my femininity was subject for negotiation. And over time, I learned to quiet the colorful parts of myself and make peace with my dreams remaining dreams."

Miss Benny Revealed Her Character's Dating Experience Was Similar to Hers

In "Glamorous," Miss Benny's character is in a love triangle with Ben, played by Michael Hsu Rosen, and Parker, played by Graham Parkhurst. In her character's fling with Parker, he is faced with a partner who is uncomfortable with his flamboyance, something Miss Benny said she could relate to.

"Marco's value is questioned because of his flamboyance and femininity. We get a conversation that's very relatable to people like me, which is, 'How do I maintain value and attraction when I'm dating people who may not be familiar with someone like me?'" Miss Benny said.

The actress recalled being as young as ten when she discovered her love of playing dress-up with her sisters, which gave Miss Benny a safe space to embrace her feminine side. Eventually, she would lock herself in her room and explore different makeup.

It wasn't until she heard television personality Courtney Act mention the word "genderqueer" that the actress did more research on gender nonconformity and realized it resonated better with how she identified.

And following the release of "Glamorous," Miss Benny came out as a transgender woman, something the actress said she had been privately living as for a few years, following the lead of other transgender stars in Hollywood, such as Hunter Schafer and Caitlyn Jenner.

Miss Benny and Vince Rossi Participated in 'Gay Couple Tries Every Kiss in the World' YouTube Video

While Miss Benny has yet to set the record straight on who her current partner is or if she even has one, the actress starred in a "Gay Couple Tries Every Kiss In The World" YouTube video with Vince Rossi. Like Miss Benny, Rossi relocated to Los Angeles at a young age and has a coming-out story. He said:

"I came out as gay when I was 17 years old [...]. I think accepting who I am was one of the most vital turning points in my life."

Rossi has since launched a career as a model and a musical career. And in the video, he and Miss Benny give a step-by-step guide on different types of kisses.
