'Held Her for about 2 Hours': Al Roker Marvels over His Newborn Granddaughter Sky Clara
Al Roker is head over heels for his newborn granddaughter, Sky Clara. The proud first-time grandfather doted on the infant in a recently posted Instagram share, alongside a photograph of him holding her.
Al Roker's granddaughter, Sky Clara, is only days old, yet she receives overwhelming attention from social media users, especially her grandfather.
The American news anchor took to Instagram to share photos of Sky alongside a lovely update of his visit to the hospital.
"Held her for about [two] hours and couldn't stop marveling at that #olddads punim," he wrote, together with a series of photographs featuring Sky in his arms.
In a previous post, "Today's" weathercaster announced the birth of Sky and thanked his daughter and son-in-law, Courtney Roker and Wes Laga, for bringing a precious blessing into his life. Roker wrote:
"[Your] baby is beautiful. Already planning the ways to spoil her and then hand her back."
Sky's mom also posted about her newborn on Instagram, calling herself lucky to be Sky's mom. Courtney also praised her husband as a hands-on and supportive dad.
During an episode of "Today," Al Roker shared more details about Sky and being a grandfather. Born on July 3, 2023, Sky entered this world via c-section.
Although there is no meaning behind them naming her Sky, it is interesting that her grandfather is a weatherman. Meanwhile, Clara is the name of Courtney's godmother.
According to Al, Sky has been a wonderful baby and sleeping a lot. She would sleep for four hours, wake up to potty, then sleep again.
Interestingly, Al did not learn of Courtney's pregnancy through their immediate family. Instead, Wes' brother accidentally told everyone through a text message. Nevertheless, it was a spectacular moment for Al.
The television personality is undoubtedly ready to assume his role as the best granddad. Fortunately, he has recovered from previous health issues, including knee replacement surgeries. In March 2023, Al proudly shared a milestone where he reached over 11,000 steps following his challenging recovery.
Al spent four weeks recovering at New York-Presbyterian Hospital with his supportive family by his side. His co-host, Savannah Guthrie, even commended his wife, Deborah Roberts, for staying strong and keeping Al's work family updated throughout the hospitalization.
Al and Deborah have been married for nearly three decades. Despite being together for so long, the couple still enjoys spending time together and going on romantic dates to keep the spark alive.
