Simu Liu's Wife She Is Not, Though Allison Hsu Is His Current Girlfriend

While Simu Liu is yet to find a wife, the actor has celebrated nearly a year of romance with Allison Hsu. However, before he found love again, Simu Liu opened up about a breakup with a former girlfriend that left him "more comfortable with the idea of therapy."

Since making their relationship public and Instagram official, Simu Liu has regularly taken to social media to share glimpses of his relationship with his girlfriend, Allison Hsu, and the couple appeared to be very much in love.

However, the actor hasn't always been so lucky with love, as only two months after making his red-carpet debut with a former girlfriend, Simu Liu experienced a difficult breakup and spoke about it at a conference.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Film, Television, and Digital Media from UCLA, Hsu landed various internships — including working at luxury brand Jimmy Choo — before serving as the Digital Marketing Co-ordinator for Interscope Records, where she works as the Digital Marketing Director.

"[...] she's a fighter, and she's very, very passionate about all things in life, her work, her job, and her other things. And that's a language that I speak very well, and I am happy to see where it goes," Hsu's famous boyfriend said.

One of Hsu's earliest Instagram posts with her actor boyfriend came in November 2022, when she shared an adorable snap of her in Liu's embrace as they both wore beaming smiles.

Hsu was Liu's plus-one to the 20th Annual Unforgettable Gala at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles the following month. And at the event, the actor revealed they were taking their romance to the next level, with Liu meeting Hsu's family. Her famous boyfriend said:

"Yeah, doing the whole family thing and meeting the parents thing, which no matter who you are and where you come from or anything like that, is a stressful time."

December 2022 proved to be a pivotal month for the couple. Not only did Liu gear up to spend the festive season with Hsu's family, but he also made their relationship Instagram official on his account. On December 3, 2022, the actor shared a photo of him and Hsu. They cozied up beside each other in matching Christmas sweaters at the "Violent Night" premiere in Los Angeles.

In 2018, Liu and actress Tina Jung posed for the camera in each other's embrace for a photoshoot. The two actors matched in black and white outfits, and Jung rested her head on Liu's shoulder in one of the photos he shared on Twitter.

Liu revealed he was dealing with a breakup while speaking at Dreamforce.

That same year, the two actors collaborated on the film, "Meet Mommy." During an interview, Liu revealed that "Meet Mommy" had been a project in the making since 2017, bringing him and Jung to tears with its heavy themes.

Although Liu and Hsu confirmed their relationship towards the end of 2022, earlier in that year, the "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" — co-starring Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh — star was rumored to be dating someone else.

In July 2022, Liu hit the red carpet at the 2022 ESPY Awards with actress Jade Bender, and they made their debut as a couple. Their public date night came a few weeks after Liu and Bender were spotted at a "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" taping in Los Angeles.

That same month, the couple posed for the camera side-by-side at Entertainment Weekly's Annual Comic-Con Bash before attending the premiere of Brad Pitt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Bad Bunny's "Bullet Train" in Los Angeles.

However, a month later, Liu revealed he was dealing with a breakup while speaking at Dreamforce, a tech conference in San Francisco by Salesforce. He said:

"I'm learning to prioritize myself, I'm becoming more and more comfortable with the idea of therapy and support systems. [...] I'm also going through a breakup. That's probably also contributing to it, but that's OK. I'll be OK."

The actor added that there were moments when he would be living his dream but didn't "didn't quite feel" like he was where he needed to be. Following his candid response, Simu Liu was met with a wave of "aww"s from the crowd.
