In 2020, Halford recalled how he felt calm and happy when he came out, attributing his relaxed state to being on a sobriety journey. He said he enjoyed the moment despite not knowing what he was doing.

Halford admitted that he still contemplates having children.

According to his memoir, he had previous relationships with a few Marines before finally ending up with Pence, an ex-Marine. The couple has been together for over two decades.

From spending birthdays together to quarantining amid the pandemic, the duo is inseparable, making Halford feel safe and secure by Pence's side. He gushed about their incredible chemistry:

"Thomas and I have been together about 1,000 years, but here's a simple equation. He does the cooking and I do the dishes. It's as simple as that."

With a playful sense of humor, the musician reminisced about his time in the 1980s. He joked that if he ever had a baby, the little one might wear leather diapers adorned with studs.
