When a couple conceived their first baby without plans to welcome one, they didn't know their pregnancy would soon spark a family drama. The couple was delighted upon learning about their unplanned baby, but their family had other plans.

A 28-year-old woman unexpectedly conceived her first baby with her husband, Lucas. The couple met at work five years ago but didn't start dating immediately. It took them some time to realize they were meant to be together.

The woman posted her story in Reddit's "amiwrong" forum under the username Guilty-Schedule-7886. Before sharing what happened after she conceived, she told other Redditors about her 24-year-old half-sister, Lia.

Lia was her father's daughter with his wife, but the half-sisters did not have a good bond. They had their differences and argued a bit, but what happened this time was something the woman wasn't expecting.

It was because of Lia that the woman couldn't marry Lucas in a proper ceremony. She could have invited her friends and family, but she eloped two years ago because Lia often compared herself to her half-sister.

The woman shared one instance to explain Lia's thought process. Lia was engaged once, and when that engagement ended, everyone in the family, including her half-sister, offered their condolences. But Lia also asked her half-sister, who was already married by then, to stop wearing her engagement ring and flaunting it around her.

The woman did not take off her engagement ring upon Lia's demand, explaining the ring held significant importance in Lucas's family. At the time, the woman had no idea Lia would cause more drama upon learning about her pregnancy.

What Happened after the Woman Announced Her Pregnancy?

The woman shared that she and Lucas hadn't planned to have a baby but were excited to welcome their little girl. She announced her pregnancy by inviting her family over for dinner.

After that day, she noticed Lia being "very snippy and standoffish" and also saw her laugh at Lucas's jokes and touch him. Since she was confident about her relationship with Lucas, she thought whatever Lia was doing was only making her look bad.

Everything seemed fine until the day the mother-to-be invited her mother's family and her father's family to decide on the baby's name. Lia was also present, but her half-sister had no idea things would get so messy.

"We were discussing baby names when Lia freaked out, screeching at me that she's the one who deserves a husband and a baby, not me," the woman recounted in her Reddit post. She added that she was never interested in having a family because she wanted to focus on her career, but meeting Lucas changed her plans.

Later that day, the woman's father and Lia's mother approached her and said she was at fault for making Lia feel bad. They felt the woman was flaunting her pregnancy and marriage despite knowing how badly Lia wanted to become a mother.

"I thought that was it, but yesterday, the three of them asked to talk," the woman revealed. Lia and her parents came over to the woman's place and asked her if she would give her baby to Lia, saying she "deserved" having one because she wouldn't prioritize her career over motherhood. The woman recalled:

"Lucas was stunned but then promptly got them out of our house."

The woman's mother was furious upon learning about Lia's demand. Meanwhile, Lia's mother was upset when she learned that the woman told her mother everything. Confused, the woman posted her story on Reddit to ask others if she was at fault for not agreeing to give her baby to her younger sister.

"Lia needs to get a life...her own," one Facebook user said. "Whether or not she's happy for the OP is irrelevant. That's some insane thinking for them to expect the OP to take off the engagement ring or give up her child just because someone else doesn't have those things."

"She's 24. She has plenty of time to get married and have a baby, though who would want such an entitled, self-absorbed brat is beyond me," another Facebook user commented.
