Elton John’s Siblings: His 4 Brothers Stan, Robert, Geoff, & Simon Dwight Are All Estranged from Him

Elton John's siblings were born in his father's second marriage, following his divorce from his mother. He never developed a bond with his half-brothers, although one of them has been vocal about his side of the story.

Legendary singer Elton John built a remarkable legacy in music. While he persevered through many challenges from childhood and adolescence that bled into adulthood, the musician still tends to old wounds from his past.

In 2019, he released his biopic, "Rocketman," which gave audiences a glimpse into his relationship with his dad, Stanley Dwight. The film depicted the Dwight patriarch as a cold and disapproving father to young Elton.

This behavior marred their relationship, which they unfortunately never had the chance to mend before Stanley died in 1991. By then, he had remarried and had four more sons, Stan Dwight, Robert Dwight, Geoff Dwight, and Simon Dwight.

Elton didn't attend his father's funeral, and it was at that point that he became estranged from his half-brothers. The siblings maintained little if any, contact. Only one has addressed the matter publicly, while the others have lived quietly and privately.

Stan works in the music industry, like Elton, but on the business side of things. He previously worked as the International Financial Controller for the record label Chrysalis, which managed pop vocalist Robbie Williams (a doting father of four).

The accountant also knows how to play piano and is said to bear the strongest resemblance to Elton among his brothers. He is also a married man with children, living with his family in Surrey, England.

Robert is the Head of Public Relations for the UK national lottery operator Camelot and currently resides in Kent. Simon serves in a senior role for a civil engineering firm and lives in Cardiff. Geoff leads what has been described as a more "Bohemian existence."

He stays in Ruthin, north Wales, and makes a living from odd jobs, selling firewood, building Celtic harps and yurts, and organizing music festivals. All four brothers are said to have many children and frequently visit their mother, Edna.

Geoff Dwight's Brush with the Law

Geoff was charged with drug possession in December 2021, to which he pleaded guilty; however, the case was only settled in court in January 2023. He carried a large trident to court on the morning of his hearing.

Geoff explained that the religious item represented Sheba and Britannia but was asked to leave it behind before he was allowed entry. He was fined approximately $151 for his crime and an additional $150 fee at Llandudno Magistrates' Court.

Geoff Dwight Criticized Elton John's Portrayal of Their Father

Following Elton's biopic, he published his autobiography, "Me," in which he delves deeper into his complicated relationship with his father. Geoff commented on both bodies of work, reportedly criticizing his half-brother for depicting the late Stanley as a "monster."

"That's not the Dad I remember. Dad had a big heart, and he loved us all equally. He was incredibly proud of Elton," he said. Geoff claimed Stanley even spoke fondly of Elton on his deathbed and said he never cared that the singer was gay.

Elton was initially engaged to Linda Hannon but eventually married David Furnish — the couple has two sons. He has never addressed Geoff's views about his film and memoir, but he acknowledged that his father was a "great dad" to his younger brothers.
