Woman Sees Her Son's Baby and Says, 'Put Him Away, I Don't Want to See Him'
A son did not think a fight that erupted between his mother and mother-in-law on vacation would go as far as his own mother refusing to see his newborn baby.
A distraught son shared on Reddit how his relationship with his mother was ruined after a fight between her and his mother-in-law erupted while on holiday.
The 32-year-old son said he was born in a small town in Eastern Europe. He never saw his parents' relationship, but he learned from his grandparents that his father had cheated and physically abused his mother.

After he was born, they immediately divorced, and he and his mother went to live with his grandparents. His mother eventually traveled to the United States to try to build a better life for them.
After a failed relationship, moving cities, and struggling financially, the mother finally found a husband who helped her build a stable life and gain US citizenship. This also meant that she could finally move her son to live with her.
The son moved to the US at 16 years old, 13 years after his mother had left. The 32-year-old managed to perform well in school and graduated from college, where he met his wife from South America.

The couple connected on being first-generation immigrants and tied the knot when the son was 28. But now, he anticipated his wife meeting his mother. Their first encounter went well, but their language barrier often had them budding heads because some things were lost in translation.
The Big Conflict
One year into their marriage, the 32-year-old's wife decided to bring the whole family together and invited her in-laws to her home country.
The brood turned the trip into an adventure and decided to drive, meaning the journey consisted of long drives, hotels, and sightseeing. Understandably, some days were better than others as people were excited, exhausted, and sometimes got car sick.

Because of the rollercoaster of emotions, there were moments when people would get into small fights. However, as they approached the end of the trip, a fight erupted between the son's mother and his wife's mother.
They had just checked into the hotel and were planning the rest of the trip when his wife walked into the room almost in tears, telling him his mother had insulted her mother and urging him to reprimand her.
The son was confused and did not understand how everything escalated. He got his wife and mother to sit down and have a conversation while he tried to be the mediator. But as they sat trying to get to the bottom of everything, his mother broke into an unexpected and extreme rage.

The 32-year-old said his mother started "screaming, kicking furniture, and banging fists on the table," but he did not know what he had said or done to trigger that much anger. On the other hand, his wife held her emotions together and gave no reaction.
Since the conversation led nowhere, he decided it was best for the trip to end. His mother left the following morning and did not contact him for months after the incident. The son only heard messages passed through his grandparents, which all expressed anger and resentment toward his wife and her family.

Eventually, the mother and son spoke, but things were still cold between them, and his mother did not hold back on the insults against his wife's family and even called them manipulative. "Multiple times she said that I should not stay married and should divorce my wife and get her and her parents out of my life," he added.
Again, the mother and son went months without speaking. This time, the 32-year-old believed the distance would help make things better.
The Last Straw
The 32-year-old and his wife fell pregnant, and the son said it was the most joy he had experienced since dealing with his turbulent relationship with his mother.

The couple welcomed a baby boy, and the son excitedly video-called his mother to show her the grandchild. But the mother was not impressed and still held a grudge against him and his wife. She still had so much hate for her daughter-in-law that she could not stand that her grandchild was her blood.
When he panned the phone camera toward his son, his mother said, "Put him away. I don't want to see him." The blatant rejection was extremely painful, and the 32-year-old said things he regretted to his mother.
He said, "I said the reason she was still holding on to that hate was because she was insecure in her own motherhood, that seeing us together with the little boy just reminds her how she left me when I was a toddler."

This was another conversation that did not end on good terms. The son believed he had lost his mother forever and cracked his brain, wishing he had handled things differently. After all his mother sacrificed for him, he felt he did not live up to be the son she wanted.
It has been a year since the mother and son last spoke. The 32-year-old is still hoping for a chance to rekindle the relationship. He has been seeing a therapist who suspected his mother had a personality disorder due to her extreme anger.

His grandparents said she would reach out soon, and the 32-year-old is patiently waiting for the day to come and hopeful for his mother to finally meet his son.
