Oscar Griffiths Was Born Prematurely – Gillian Anderson's Son Is Now a DH Mountain Bike Racer

Oscar Griffiths is Gillian Anderson's second child, born in her relationship with her former longtime partner, Mark Griffiths. The youngster is making quite a name for himself as a DH mountain bike racer worldwide.

Oscar Griffiths drew his first breath on November 1, 2006, in London, England, born to Emmy-winning actress Gillian Anderson and Mark Griffiths. Oscar is the former couple's first child together.

The then-newborn weighed six pounds and eight ounces; his mother gave birth to him three weeks before he was due, after which he stayed in the intensive care unit. His parents kept his arrival private until after he was released.

It's unknown when Oscar began bike racing professionally, but the 17-year-old has been actively competing for years. His social media accounts, including YouTube and Instagram, are dedicated to the sport, where he documents his progress and achievements.

In June 2022, he enjoyed victory after competing in Germany and wrote, "Lessgoo, buzzing to win out here in Germany and a top 5 in the elite category! Cheers to everyone for the help this weekend and always, bigguppp!"

The following month, he came second at a Bringewood DH race. Earlier in 2023, Oscar participated in the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Val Di Sole, Italy. It was his first World Cup, which he admitted came with a "steep learning curve."

He was part of the Men's Junior DHI, and during one of his races, he, unfortunately, crashed. Still, he was a good sport about the experience and made it to the finals, as he wrote, "Pretty happy with where the splits [were] at in finals and to be sound after my Hugie!"

Oscar's mother, Gillian, has starred in "Sex Education" alongside Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, and Asa Butterfield since the series began airing in 2019. During a 2021 interview, she said she forbade her kids from watching the show.

Despite these clearly set boundaries, however, the actress noted that she had no control over what her children were exposed to outside their home. Regardless, she lived "happily in denial" that Oscar and his siblings didn't watch "Sex Education."

In addition to TV restrictions, Gillian has admitted to struggling with other aspects of parenting. In her 2017 manifesto with Jennifer Nadel, she wrote of how she found the ever-demanding responsibility of motherhood overwhelming. Still, she tried her best to stay present and active with her kids.

Oscar's parents had another son, Felix Griffiths, in late 2008. They stayed together for another four years before ending their relationship amicably in mid-2012. Before welcoming Oscar and Felix, Gillian had a daughter, Piper Maru Klotz, from her first marriage to Clyde Klotz.

Her second husband was Julian Ozanne, but the former couple never had kids. Little is known about her youngest son, but her daughter is an artist. Piper has previously dabbled in Hollywood entertainment, working alongside her mom, but she focuses on craft-making and design.
