Priscilla Presley Permitted to Be Buried Close to Elvis as She Is Set to Receive Lumpsum from Lisa Marie’s Trust
A judge has legally granted Riley Keough's requests regarding her mother, Lisa Marie Presley's estate. The ruling permitted Priscilla Presley to be buried near Elvis Presley and allowed her to receive a considerable amount from her late daughter's estate.
Priscilla Presley can now take a sigh of relief after a judge formally approved the settlement for Lisa Marie Presley's estate. The court's approval stopped the grandmother and her granddaughter from getting entangled in a public legal battle worth millions of dollars.
The settlement confirmed no objections to Priscilla being buried close to Elvis at the Graceland Meditation Garden. It was also determined that her son, Navarone Garibaldi, could attend her memorial ceremony if he chose to.
This settlement was approved with Priscilla's granddaughter, Riley's, blessing. "The burial location will be at the location closest to Elvis Presley without moving any existing gravesite," the settlement read.
Priscilla is also set to receive a hefty sum each year. Riley has agreed to pay her grandmother $100,000 a year for serving as "special advisor" to the Promenade Trust. The Promenade Trust handles the family's shareholder interest in Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.
Priscilla will take on the special advisory role for ten years or until her death. In addition, she will receive $1 million from her daughter's $25 million life insurance policy.
Additionally, Priscilla received a one-time fee of $50,000 when she resigned as co-trustee of Lisa Marie's trust. Lisa Marie's half-brother, Priscilla's son Navarone, received one-ninth of her life insurance trust, while Riley and her half-siblings Harper and Finley split the remaining amount.
The settlement, which was kept under wraps for months, also stated that Riley was set to use her best efforts not to let any entity pursue legal action against Priscilla or anything related to her name.
Previously, Priscilla had filed a case against the Promenade Trust, and Riley chose to settle the claims stated in Priscilla's petition rather than battle it out in what was sure to become a public spectacle of a court case.
Riley wanted the court to sign off on the settlement so she could clarify once and for all that she was the sole trustee of her late mother's estate. She hoped the payment would save her a lot of time and expenses regarding litigation.
It's been a tough couple of years for Priscilla, who had to deal with three consecutive losses. She lost her mom, grandson, and daughter. Having the Presley name meant no privacy, and this worsened things.
No matter what she did or said, people constantly spoke about her and her family. So, she always had to be extra careful about what she put out in the world.
Lisa Marie Presley died on January 12, 2023, at 54. She was being treated for a cardiac arrest in her home at the time of her passing. Her official cause of death revealed she died of complications from an obstructed bowel.
Only hours before her death, Lisa Marie complained to her mother about having crippling stomach pains. Priscilla noticed her daughter looked frail that night but didn't think much of it.
Lisa Marie excused herself and hugged her mom tight that day, without both of them realizing that was the last hug they'd ever share. She was the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Priscilla was only 21 when she wed Elvis but had been with him since she was a teenager.
