Before the world knew him as Ozzy Osbourne, he was John Michael Osbourne, a boy navigating the challenges of a poor and crowded neighborhood in Birmingham, England. Born in a working-class family, Osbourne's early life was marked by financial struggles. His mother, tasked with stretching meals, couldn't afford new clothes during harsh winters.

Breaking the Mold

The hurdles multiplied at school, where Osbourne battled dyslexia, a learning disorder that subjected him to teasing and bullying, earning him the moniker "Ozzy" from his classmates. These experiences fueled feelings of inadequacy and shame, leading him to drop out of school at the age of 16. When talking about Osbourne and his family, CNN narrated:

"Dyslexia hurt his ability to do well in school, and he dropped out. And I think that he carried around that feeling of being, you know, the class dummy for a long time."

To make ends meet, he worked a series of menial jobs, including a stint in a slaughterhouse, and flirted with the wrong side of the law, culminating in a brief prison sentence for burglary before his 18th birthday. Throughout this turbulent period, however, a steadfast love for music burned brightly within him.

Following his release from prison, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery, exploring his potential as a singer. In 1968, he joined forces with a bass player, a guitarist, and a drummer, giving birth to a groundbreaking heavy metal rock band.

Having journeyed through matrimony twice, his second marriage has proven that love can endure the test of time. Three children from his first marriage, coupled with an additional trio from his second, have given him immense joy and made him a grandfather to over ten cherished grandchildren.

The icon has a strong bond with his family, and it is evident in his interactions with his youngest, Kelly. She candidly expressed her love for him in an Instagram post that read, "I know everyone thinks their dad is the best dad in the world. The only difference is mine really is. Dad, you truly are my best friend, and I love you more than anything in the world."
