Gary Owen is a well-known comedian who gave the world an inside look at his personal life following the release of his reality television show, "The Gary Owen Show." In the series, the audience meets his blended family, including his daughter, Kennedy Owen.

Kennedy was born to a black mother, Kenya Duke, and her comedian father in 2002. However, during a live performance, her father joked that she identified as a black woman as opposed to mixed race and revealed to a laughing crowd that someone would have to pry the fact that Kennedy had a white dad out of her.
Before Kennedy was born, her parents welcomed her older brother, Austin.
Nonetheless, Kennedy's dad was the picture of a proud father in 2020 when he turned to Instagram to announce that she had been accepted to North Carolina A&T State University.
"She told me her freshman year of high school she wanted to attend an HBCU. A&T was her first choice," the comedian captioned the post in part.

In 2015, Kennedy's father took to Facebook to celebrate her birthday and shared in part, "Happy 13th Birthday to my daughter Kennedy. You are growing up so fast. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you."
Fast forward a few years, and Kennedy's mother was celebrating her reaching her final years of being a teenager in July 2021. Kenya took a trip down memory lane with a throwback of her and Kennedy and wrote:
"I am screaming Happy 19th Birthday to my baby girl. You have turned out to be more than I could have hoped for."

Before Kennedy was born, her parents welcomed her older brother, Austin. Gary turned to social media to celebrate his birthday in 2020 and joked that he was still getting used to his son being taller than him.
However, Kennedy's eldest sibling is her half-brother, Emilio, from her mother's past relationship. Even though not biologically related, Kennedy's father still saw Emilio as his son.
Kennedy and her father's tense relationship formed a few years after the comedian revealed he and Kennedy were no longer connecting like they used to.
Gary shared in honor of Emilio's birthday in 2016, "Happy Birthday to my oldest son Emilio. When I married your mom you were a package deal. Thank you for being a great big brother & just all around nice guy."
Kennedy Owen Learned about Her Parents' Divorce via Media Outlets and Cut Ties with Her Father
Last year, Kennedy's father appeared on "The Breakfast Club" and revealed that it had been over a year since he had seen Kennedy and her brothers. According to the "Think Like a Man" — co-starring Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, and Regina Hall — star, Kennedy and her brothers learned about their parents' divorce via media outlets.
The news upset them, and they were angry with their dad for leaving their mom. As a result, Kennedy stopped contacting and seeing her father and avoided him whenever he reached out, including blocking him on social platforms. Her father revealed:
"I've done everything. I've gone to Greensborough 'cause my daughter's at A&T. Knocked on her door, she wouldn't answer. I tried to see her at the airport one time. Tried to catch her. [...] I don't know what to do at this point."
As of 2022, Kennedy and her father's relationship had become tense and was followed by the time the comedian revealed he and Kennedy were no longer connecting like they used to on their family show "The Gary Owen Show."
