The movie star has remained active in the public eye, especially when he was sworn in as a police officer in 2018. On June 19, 2018, the Saint Anthony Police Department in Idaho announced that Cain had joined the police:

"St. Anthony PD swears in Reserve Officer Dean Cain who played Superman in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman."

Cain was pictured next to Captain Anderson, who had sworn him in, looking happy with a broad smile. The photos showed the actor being sworn in and proudly showing off his certificate. He admitted to always feeling a connection with the military and first responders, and so joining their ranks was his way of contributing and playing a part.

The actor became part of the "All About Kids" initiative when he joined the police. The initiative addresses challenges like online bullying and predation faced by children and teens, aiming to help them handle these issues effectively.

Fans who saw Cain's pictures said, "he still looks good." They noted that the actor was "handsome" in his suit. "I didn't recognize him I admit….looks good for 57," a fan acknowledged. Fans said Cain had gained weight, which has left him "unrecognizable," but in a good way.
