Al Roker together with his wife Deborah Roberts finally opened up about the 'developmental challenges' that their 15-year-old son has confronted.

The 63-year-old 'Today' show host and his 57-year-old 'ABC News' journalist wife revealed to 'People' on Thursday, at the moment of the press time of the source media outlet, during the '2018 ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala' in New York City.

Before Deborah Roberts got more detailed with the situation, she and her husband reportedly told the magazine that their teen son is dealing with some development challenges.

'He was dealing with some developmental delays.'

The 'ABC News' journalist Deborah Roberts added, and we quote.

'We hope that more people will be open to expressing and maybe sharing that a lot of us are dealing with challenges in life.'

The 57-year-old journalist continued by saying,

'There has been a stigma over the years, especially if it’s not an obvious challenge that people know, and I think to be able to share and inspire and to give other people the encouragement, I think that life can be enriched and can be better and can be in some ways richer when you are loving and supporting and dealing with somebody who is dealing with challenges.'

Deborah Roberts added they hope more people will be open enough to express and perhaps share that a lot of us are dealing with different issues and challenges in life.

'We hope that more people will be open to expressing and maybe sharing that a lot of us are dealing with challenges in life.'

She went on to describe how her son's developmental struggles began to transpire as soon as after she gave birth to him.

The mother of two continued to explain that it was clearly evident.

'It was pretty apparent that he was facing some challenges.'

She ended up saying concerned about what their future will hold for them.

'and we weren’t sure what his world and what our future would be.'

Nevertheless, she and her husband created a team together that includes therapists and specialists who greatly helped in his developmental growth.

The mother proudly said,

''We watched him blossom.'

She also opened up about the anxiety that she and her husband was feeling at the time he was born.

'We wondered was he going to speak? Was he going to walk.'

Nonetheless, Deborah Roberts concluded her talk in a more positive manner leading to happy revelations.

'In no time, he was running and talking more than I thought he would ever do.'

We are happy to hear about Nicholas' progress, and completely, we are grateful for his parents for letting the world know that a lot of people are actually dealing with this kind of problem.

Thus, in a way, creating awareness and solution.
