Taylor Swift’s boyfriend made rare appearance in stylish suit at the Cannes red carpet

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, made his debut red carpet event at this year’s Cannes Film Festival when he attended the Trophée Chopard Ceremony. He was in for a big treat as his work was recognized at one of the largest film events in the entire world.

The 71st annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off in France on Monday 14th and will be running until May 19th. This event which is dubbed ‘The Oscars of Film’ brings together talent from all over the world and is the largest film event by participation. Among the guests invited to attend the glamorous event was Joe Alwyn, who is dating singer Taylor Swift.

The 27-year-old was not only an attendee but was also being recognized for his work as an actor at the Trophée Chopard Ceremony. Alwyn was on hand to accept the Chopard Trophy that aims to highlight the up and coming generation of the international film industry who are ready to shine on the silver screen.

Speaking to E! News after the award ceremony, the up and coming actor expressed gratitude for being recognized at such an early stage of his career.

“I haven’t been to Cannes before so to come here to such a prestigious festival for my first time and to receive this award is amazing and such an honor, especially seeing the list of people who have won it before, it’s amazing to be added to that–that group of names. "I feel very lucky to do something that I love as a job and so to be recognized in this way at such a relatively early stage of my career is a huge vote of confidence and is very special, so thank you."

Just days before the festival, the actor was seen cheering Swift who kicked off her Reputation Stadium tour. The two have kept their relationship private for the year they have been dating, but insiders say Taylor has never been happier. “All her (Taylor’s) friends know about their relationship anyway. She feels confident in their relationship and Joe really loves her. She really thinks he might be the one. She loves that he is confident and has his own career. She also likes that he doesn’t seek attention and is low-key.”
