The Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon recently won the 26th season of Dancing With The Stars with partner Jenna Johnson. But after the win, he stepped out in something other than his dancing shoes for an important cause.

On June 11, Rippon hosted the 2018 installment of the TrevorLIVE New York gala, but he wasn't alone. His Finnish boyfriend, Jussi-Pekka Kajaala, was with him in their first appearance on the red carpet together.

"I'm here with my boyfriend right here," Adam shared with E! News before hosting the charity event. "We started talking in October but we've been together for a few months now."

The couple have been seeing one another for only a short time, but they have documented their relationship via Instagram, with Rippon sharing plenty of photos of them enjoying various adventures and public displays of affection.

The event the couple were attending was to help raise funds for crisis intervention and suicide prevention among LGBTQ youth.

Actress, producer, and director Lena Waithe was among those honored during the event, and Rita Ora was invited to perform for those in attendance.

"This is more important than ever in light of the tragic death of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. I think now we should have a serious talk about mental health and suicide prevention," Adam explained. "I think it's important to remember that the Trevor hotline is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to anyone. Whether you know someone going through something or you're going through something yourself, it's open and available."

He further added that having the conversation about depression and suicide can help to save lives, and that was why it was a cause so close to his heart.
