Bear attacks 71-year-old wheelchair-bound woman inside her home
A woman named Apryl Rogers was attacked inside her own home by a bear that found its way and panicked after not being able to find the exit.
The attack took place on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at around 1:15 a.m. in Groton, New Hampshire, when Rogers was apparently confronted with the bear in her kitchen.
According to WMUR, New Hampshire Fish and Game officials have investigated the home and believe that the bear wandered in out of curiosity and ended up lashing out at Rogers when she confronted him.
Rogers, who is 71 years old, suffered several facial and head lacerations and had to be submitted to surgery, which lasted for a couple of hours. Despite the severe injuries, she was able to call 911 and the emergency services arrived at her the scene fairly quickly.

Fish and Game Maj. Jim Juneau revealed that Rogers, who was in her bed at the time, realized that something was wrong when her cats barged into her room, very frightened.
She then heard a noise coming from the kitchen, so she got on her wheelchair and was surprised by the animal. Rogers' presence must have scared it because it turned violent, believing that it was in danger.
According to neighbors, Rogers is known for leaving her back door open because it doesn't close properly, which is how the bear managed to get inside the house.
Fish and Game officials have investigated the area and didn't find any bird feeders or other items that might have attracted the animal to the property.
They are now trying to locate and capture the bear, which was why they set up a trap, with sunflower seeds and muffins inside, in Roger's backyard.
Bears are naturally curious animals and they won't mind entering a house to satisfy their curiosity. In 2017, Katie Hawley, from Colorado, was able to get footage of a bear entering her house and playing the piano. Luckily, no one was home and the video became an internet sensation.
