Bride shares a father-daughter dance with dad at the hospital

Every little girl dreams of those very special moments when her father will walk her down the aisle and share the father-daughter dance at her wedding.

Janae Hauger, 23, had been dreaming about dancing with her father, Steve Price, on her wedding day since she was a tiny girl.

The wedding day was set, the dream was in sight, but then something terrible happened. Just a month before the wedding, Price, 59, was rushed to hospital with severe stomach pains, and doctors diagnosed him with pancreatitis, reported LoveMatters.com.

“We share an incredible bond and we have always dreamt of the day he was able to walk me down the aisle and share a father-daughter dance with me.”

The bride was told dad was too ill to attend the wedding

Doctors told the family that Price was too ill to attend the wedding just three days before the ceremony, and Janae was devastated.

She knew her father wouldn't be walking her down the aisle, but she was determined to get her father-daughter dance.

Janae decided that she would get her dance

Price had been very involved in the wedding planning, even restoring the family’s old barn for the ceremony, and he was equally upset to be missing his little girl's wedding.

Janae decided that if her father couldn't come to the wedding, the wedding would come to her father.

A sweet surprise for her dad!

Just before the wedding was scheduled to start, Hauger, her mother, and her siblings were at the hospital, and the nurses brought her unsuspecting father down to the chapel where she waited in her wedding dress.

Price broke down and cried, and then Janae invited her father to dance to the Darius Rucker’s song “It Won’t Be Like This for Long."

After the dance Price sent his daughter on her way telling her to “You go get married now!”

Price watched on FaceTime as Janae married her fiancee Jesse in a beautiful ceremony in the barn he'd restored so lovingly.

the ceremony via FaceTime, and photos from the wedding showed Hauger wiping tears as she spoke through her father on a screen.

The romantic song Janae chose for her father-daughter dance was co-written and recorded by Darius Rucker, lead vocalist of the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish. The song was to go on to hit #1 on the US Hot Country Songs Billboard.
