Fans are speculating that they were discussing the sizes of Princess Anne's children when they were born.
Critics of the couple have taken to Twitter and expressed their outrage online, with Danny Hayes saying Meghan and Harry were "brutal."
A user known as Francesca Jane said: "Meghan couldn't let Eugenie be center of the attention for long could she."
Another added that the couple was raining on Eugenie's parade and stealing her thunder, while Mark Jones added:
"And just like that, Harry and Meghan snatched back the headlines from Eugenie."
While many were speaking out about the cruel act of announcing the news at someone's wedding, other's are standing up for their favorite royals.
According to Glamour, the couple left for Australia soon after, and fans are saying that they wanted to share the news before they departed.
It was also pointed out that Meghan's choice of dress of unlike the outfit she had been wearing recently, and that she needed to explain why she wore a coat to a wedding.
Regardless of the public's opinion, members of the royal family are said to be delighted for the duke and duchess of Sussex.
The Queen was "delighted for the couple." Harry's grandchild will be seventh in line to the throne and the Queen's eighth grandchild.
Meghan's mother Doria Ragland is also delighted with the news and looking forward to being a grandmother.
It has not yet been confirmed if Meghan's father Thomas Markle heard the news. However, he said in an earlier interview that he expected children soon.
The news came as no surprise, as Harry said in their engagement interview that they were hoping to "start a family in the near future."
Back in November, the prince said that they had no current plans for children and that they will take it one step at a time.
