Gayle King, Katie Couric’s daughters get engaged in the same weekend, show off their stunning rings

It was a double celebration this weekend as two television mainstays, Gayle King and Katie Couric announced the engagement of their daughters. Katie revealed the significance of her daughter's engagement ring while Gayle had a surprise of her own.

The month of hearts couldn’t go any better for the daughters of Gayle King and Katie Couric who got engaged over the weekend. The two TV moms took to their Instagram to share the news, each showing off their daughters with their rings and fiancés.

KATIE'S ANNOUNCEMENT

Katie couldn’t contain her excitement with a series of OMG’s plastered on her caption as she shared two snaps to celebrate the happy occasion. The first showed the engaged couple with her daughter Elinor Monahan flaunting her sparkler as she leans on her fiance, Mark.

The second was a throwback pic of herself wearing the same ring during her own engagement to her late husband and Ellie’s father, Jay Monahan. The story behind the photo, Katie reveals, was that Ellie’s engagement ring is the same one Ellie’s father gave the television host.

GAYLE'S ANNOUNCEMENT

Meanwhile, Katie’s co-worker had some happy news of her own. Beating her daughter, Kirby Bumpus to the announcement, Gayle shared photos of the 32-year-old’s engagement to Virgil Miller.

"Guess what happened to @fav daughter ... yep @kirbybump is ENGAGED!,” she wrote to caption photos documenting the milestone moment.

"Swipe left to see the (very) lucky guy ..welcome to the family VIRGIL MILLER! She thought will and I were in la."

Gayle and her son, William Bumpus, Jr. surprised Kirby by being around to witness the happy occasion.

Kirby expressed her joy by announcing the news on her own social media account sharing a photo of her and Virgil smiling with her new ring on her finger.

OPRAH, GAYLE AND KIRBY

Kirby is Oprah Winfrey’s goddaughter. She would often spend time with the talk show queen and her mother, spending holidays and vacations together. In October, Kirby joined the celebrity BFF’s on a trip to Paris where they took a midnight video against the backdrop of the Eiffel tower wearing long gowns. Christmases are also often spent with Oprah in her home in Hawaii. Last year was no exception.

It’s been undisclosed how Oprah reacted to the latest news of Kirby’s engagement but we’re more than certain she’d be so happy. If Oprah can throw the most epic birthday celebration for herself as she recently did, I’m sure Kirby’s bridal shower will be just as grand with her godmother on her side.
