LeToya Luckett's Touching Tribute to 'Mother-In-Love' Who Died from Cancer
LeToya Luckett and her husband, Tommicus “Tommi” Walker are mourning the death of his mother, Ruby, who recently passed away from cancer. LeToya broke the news while revealing her “selfish” wish.
The former “Destiny’s Child” singer paid tribute to her late mother-in-law in an emotional Instagram post that showed just how close both women were. For starters, LeToya refers to Ruby as her “Mother-In-Love.”
Alongside throwback images of Ruby at her wedding to Tommi and a snapshot of the older woman cradling her pregnant belly, LeToya wrote:
“I still can’t believe I’m writing this. It’s hard to think we were just singing one of your favorite songs ‘I Won't Complain’ as you lay in bed in unbearable pain. In that moment I realized your strength & your unshakable faith in God. Yes, you were my Mother-In-Love, but you were my friend, confidant, prayer partner who I could call anytime to share a laugh with.”
The singer, who married Tommi in December 2017, thanked Ruby for always being there for their family and impacting her knowledge.
Tommi also mourned his mom with a heartbreaking tribute.
“I learned SO MUCH from you in our time together & I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to love you,” LeToya continued. “I miss you ma!”
The mom-of-one then opened up about her selfish desires concerning Ruby:
“Although I selfishly wish I could call you or come by to hug your neck, I find rest in knowing that you’re in your favorite place! In the presence of God! Out of pain & glowing in Glory!”
“Rest well ma! I love you beyond your years here & for eternity,” the "Friends & Family Hustle" star concluded, adding the hashtag “Cancer REALLY sucks.”
On the Walkers’ joint Instagram page, Tommi also mourned his mom with a heartbreaking tribute. “My heart is broken, life will never be the same without you momma,” he wrote.
Know that you gained an angel who will protect you from a better vantage point
Ruby’s passing comes only five months after LeToya and Tommi welcomed their first child together, Gianna Iman Walker. The Dallas-based businessman also has a six-year-old daughter, Madison, from a previous relationship.
Friends and loved ones have been sending their condolences to the Walkers on social media.
“Omg family I’m so sorry for your loss,” rapper Da Brat said.
“She was so sweet & offered the kindest words to me at [LeToya’s baby] shower,” singer Keri Hilson added. “Sorry for you & Tommi’s loss, but know that you gained an angel who will protect you from a better vantage point than earth.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Walker family as they go through this difficult time.
