Olympic Gymnast Simone Biles Tweets after Brother Tevin Is Arrested on Ohio Triple Homicide
Just weeks after her record-breaking routine, Simone Biles requests to be left alone in light of her brother's arrest for murder. Trevon Biles-Thomas is facing charges for the murder of three people on New Year's Eve.
Simone Biles prefers her privacy at this time. This is what she implied in her tweet following news of her brother, Tevin Biles-Thomas’ recent arrest for triple murder charges.

IN THE HEELS OF HER RECORD-BREAKING ROUTINES
Earlier this month, Simone made history by becoming the first gymnast to land a double-twisting, double somersault dismount off a balance beam. She performed the jaw-dropping feat at the 2019 US Gymnastics Championships after successfully attempting two flips and three twists in the air prior to landing during a floor mat routine that same day. It was also a record first for a gymnast. The 22-year-old was in cloud nine.
HER BROTHER'S ARREST FOR MURDER
But just weeks after, Simone's joy was quashed by news of her older brother’s arrest. Tevin was taken into police custody on August 29 in connection with the murder of three people on New Year’s Eve.
According to the statement of an official with the Liberty County Sherriff’s Office in Georgia as reported by People, the 24-year-old from Cleveland was charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter, and felonious assault and perjury.
An Investigation into the December 31 shooting incident pointed to Tevin as the gunman who fired at guests at a party that resulted in the deaths of Delvante Johnson, 19, Toshaun Banks, 21, and Devaughn Gibson, 23.
Tevin was on active duty with the army at the time of his arrest. He has been serving since 2014 and is a canon crewmember assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart.
That night at around 11:30 pm, uninvited people entered the home where the party was being held. An altercation reportedly ensued between the uninvited group and some guests. Gunfire erupted after and claimed the lives of the three people.
Tevin was later identified by Cleveland police as the shooter and was recently arrested in Fort Stewart. He remains in Liberty County Jail in Hinesville without bond and is expected to be arraigned on September 13.
HER RESPONSE
In light of his arrest, news outlets tried to reach out to Simone for comment but her representatives did not respond. Instead, the multi-titled Olympian tweeted the following message the day after her brother’s arrest: “eating my feelings don’t talk to me.”
Simone and Tevin did not grow up together. The siblings along with their sisters Adria and Ashley were placed in foster care at a young age when their mother, Shannon Biles struggled with addiction
Meanwhile, USA Gymnastics sent a statement to People expressing its support for Simone
“In this challenging time for Simone Biles and her family, USA Gymnastics offers our continued support to Simone, her family and her gymnastics family. This is a very personal and private situation for the Biles family and we will respect their privacy and hope others will do the same.”

MORE ON TEVIN AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH SIMONE
According to NBC News, Tevin was on active duty with the army at the time of his arrest. He has been serving since 2014 and is a canon crewmember assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart. In 2018, he was deployed to Korea.
Simone and Tevin did not grow up together. The siblings along with their sisters Adria and Ashley were placed in foster care at a young age when their mother, Shannon Biles struggled with addiction. At six, Biles and her sister Adria were adopted by their grandfather who raised them in Houston, Texas. Meanwhile, Tevin and Ashley were adopted by their great aunt who lived in Cleveland. It's unclear if Simone was ever close to her brother growing up.
At this time, there is no word on whether Tevin already entered a plea or if he hired a lawyer.
