Magic Johnson & Wife Cookie Dress to Impress as They Attend Samuel L Jackson's Wife's 70th Birthday Bash

Magic Johnson and his wife, Cookie, stepped out looking their best earlier this week to celebrate the 70th birthday of Samuel L. Jackson’s wife, LaTanya Richardson. The power couple also had an exceptional guest along for the party.

The Johnson family started this week on a celebratory note, joining Samuel to celebrate his longtime spouse, and the NBA legend came through with photos.

Magic, 60, looked dapper in a double-breasted blue suit and brown shoes while Cookie oozed elegance in a black, knee-length dress paired with matching shoes and a white jacket.

The "Blue Bloods" alum stood by Samuel when he was at his worst and had to go into rehab for substance abuse.

The couple’s adopted daughter, Elisa, made a rare appearance with her parents, and Magic made sure to acknowledge her presence in a photo caption. "Cookie and I love spending time with our beautiful daughter Elisa," he shared. "She joined us for LaTanya’s birthday party in NY."

The birthday bash proved to be a star-studded one as Magic also posed with celebrities like Mary J. Blige, "Power" creator Courtney Kemp, actor La La Anthony, civil rights icon Reverend Al Sharpton and baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield.

Magic (birth name Earvin Johnson Jr.) also shared photos of the birthday girl LaTanya and her "Pulp Fiction" star hubby cutting a bedazzled cake with five tiers.

In a heartwarming caption, Magic revealed the party was a surprise pulled on LaTanya by Samuel and their daughter Zoe.

"Cookie and I had such a great time attending our best friend LaTanya Jackson’s surprise 70th birthday party in NYC given by her husband Sam and daughter Zoe! Happy early birthday LaTanya!!!"

Samuel and LaTanya tied the knot in 1980 after meeting when he was studying Marine Biology and Architecture at Morehouse College while she attended theater classes at the nearby Spelman college. They welcomed their daughter, Zoe, two years later.

LaTanya, an actress and producer whose actual birthday is October 21, has come a long way in her relationship with the man many know as Marvel’s Nick Fury.

After nearly four decades of marriage, many now see Samuel and LaTanya as "couple goals," but their story is not without its struggles.

According to the website "Women Working," the "Blue Bloods" alum stood by Samuel when he was at his worst and had to go into rehab for substance abuse.

Per the outlet, the "Shaft" star recalled of the time:

"I credit her because she could have just taken Zoe (their daughter) and walked out and been done with me. But she didn't. That's a greater love than I will ever know. Because I don't know that I would've done that."

"You have to have a big heart and the Lord. You can’t do this without the Lord," LaTanya said last year when asked how she’s managed to keep it going in their marriage. "You’re going to have to turn to somebody, something -- because men, they are different. They’re cut from a different cloth."
