Gladys Knight Defies Her Age in Golden Velvet Dress as She Celebrates 75th Birthday
Gladys Knight turned 75-years-old back in May, but that didn't stop her from celebrating five months later. The legendary singer donned a golden velvet dress for the celebration, as she was joined by all her closest friends and family.
On Sunday, Gladys Knight celebrated her 75th birthday at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz in Bel-Air, California. The birthday celebration was called "One Knight in October," hosted by Knight's good friend Rafi Anteby.
She decided to wear a golden velvet dress that featured a deep-v neckline that extended all the way to her stomach. Knight's dress featured beaded accents, particularly of what seems to be a grand mosque. She wore her dress with a pair of satin heels.

Speaking to Variety about her 75 years of life and her successful career, she said:
"I feel blessed, cause you know, we just will never know the hour, the moment, the day, the time that we’re supposed to go. So you should make the most of every moment.”

Surrounded By Family and Friends
She took a break from her "Empress of Soul" world tour to celebrate her 75th birthday, and her guest list had Diane Warren, La Toya Jackson, Lalah Hathaway, David and Katharine Foster, Billy Dee Williams, George Wallace, Tommy Cheng, and Loni Love on it, among many others.
During the celebration, they not only dined in style with a three-course dinner, but also enjoyed a couple of songs from the legendary singer. Knight was also gifted with a couple of messages from friends and fans such as Jamie Foxx, Linda Thompson, Smokey Robinson, Linda Thompson, and Motown Records' Berry Gordy.
A Red Carpet Staple
Prior to her birthday celebration, her latest sighting was during the grand opening gala of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. She was joined by her husband William McDowell on the red carpet, and the two enjoyed the special day with Perry's other VIP guests.
As always, Gladys wore a gorgeous white feather-patterned dress which she accessorized with a purse and a pair of sunglasses.
McDowell and Knight have been married since 2001, and while they don't have children together, they have a large family of seventeen children and ten great-grandchildren from her previous relationships.
