Here's How DWTS Star Peta Murgatroyd Reacted to Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews' Firing
Peta Murgatroyd said she was shocked to hear that Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were fired on DWTS. She looks forward to seeing what new host Tyra will bring.
On Wednesday, Peta Murgatroyd, 34, sat down with Us Weekly to talk about the new season of "Dancing With the Stars." It will be the first time that host Tom Bergeron will not be hosting the show.
Bergeron and co-host Erin Andrew were recently fired to the surprise of many fans. Murgatroyd, a professional dancer on the series, was also astounded by the news. The clip is found below.

MURGATROYD SHARES REACTION TO NEWS
Murgatroyd learned about the news during a Zoom call with her fellow dancers. She explained that they were informed merely hours after Bergeron and Andrew were told.
"To be honest, I was shocked. I was sad. Not that I'm not happy for Tyra," she said. Tyra Banks, 46, will be the new solo host for season 29 of the hit competitive reality series.
Murgatroyd noted that she has met Banks before and holds her in high regard. She is excited to see what the former supermodel will bring to the show.
Still, she explained, "I was sad just because that chapter of the show is done and it made me emotional. Even on the call, I was like, 'Tom's not gonna be there anymore? Tom?' He is the show, you know?"

STEPS TO BE TAKEN AMID PANDEMIC
She also gave credit to Andrews for her insight and ability to relate to the celebrities who compete. She finished on a positive note with talk about a "fresh start."
Murgatroyd revealed that steps would be taken in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Dancers will have to take daily temperature checks and regularly undergo COVID-19 tests.
BERGERON MAKES LIGHT OF THE FIRING
Bergeron has been hosting the show since its inception in 2004, while Andrew joined him in 2014 after competing in a previous season. Bergeron announced the changes on Twitter last week.
At the end of the Tweet, he joked, "Now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?" Over 4,000 fans responded with many saying how much they would miss him.
BANKS REACTS TO HER NEW ROLE
Banks has also made comments about her new position. Speaking on "Good Morning America," she said she was "excited about hosting and executive producing."
As it stands, Banks will be the first solo host employed by ABC network who is both back and Female. The new season of "Dancing With the Stars" will air in the fall at 8 p.m. on Monday Nights.
