MCLEAN IS GRATEFUL
The 42-year-old took his Twitter and Instagram page to share a thrilling photo of him in a dance studio to commemorate the good news.
Dressed casually in cargo pants and a top, McLean thanked the creators of the show for the opportunity to participate. He also gave a shoutout to his wife Rochelle and their girls, Ava and Lyric, writing:
"I also want to thank my wife and my two girls for letting Daddy go on this new adventure. I'm doing it ALL for you!"
MCLEAN JOINS "DWTS"
McLean was officially announced as part of the celebrity cast, joining "Bachelorette" star Kaitlyn Bristowe, during an appearance on "Good Morning America." He revealed to the hosts that his daughters, especially the oldest, are excited to see him dance on screen.
Bristowe and McLean have been the only celebrities announced to join the dance competition television series.
He also revealed that he reached out to bandmate Nick Carter, the runner-up for season 21, for some insight on what to expect in the competition show, and felt both terrified and encouraged.
HE PREVIOUSLY TEASED THE NEWS
Three days before the official announcement, the father-of-two teased his big news on Instagram with a 3-minute clip of him after an intense training session.
He explained in the video that he had been working hard to follow a strict healthy diet and workout regimen over the last five months with his trainer, before hinting at the announcement. He said:
"A lot of surprises coming from me. I can't tell you guys exactly what yet but I'm doing this for two reasons."
MORE CELEBRITIES TO COME
Since the premiere date of "DWTS" season 29 was announced, Bristowe and McLean have been the only celebrities announced to join the dance competition television series.
Although the rest of the cast will be announced on September 2, speculations are rife about the next set of stars to join the show.
According to E! News, Carole Baskin, Anne Heche, and Chrishell Stause, are all having discussions about participating in the competition. Also, coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci was considered, but he reportedly turned the invitation down.
Earlier this month, all of the professional dancers for this season were announced, and Britt Stewart and Daniella Karagach were newly introduced.
Stewart will make history as the first Black female pro to compete on the show. There will also be new protocols for the participants due to the current COVID-19 pandemic as married pros would not be allowed to live together while filming.
