Khan, dubbed Queen of Funk, grew up with alcoholic parents. Later in life, she battled drug addiction. She recalled overdosing on sleeping pills after taking cocaine all day when she was in her 20s.
Her second husband, Richard Holland, was the one who saved her life after she mindlessly walked into his house after taking a couple of heavy-duty sleeping pills. They were neighbors at the time.
Khan has moved on from her troubled past and is living her best life these days, surrounded by her loving family. She recently welcomed her great-granddaughter Caiiya.
The music legend could not help but took to social media as she celebrated the arrival of her family's newest addition. She gushed over her great-granddaughter on Instagram.
