'BH90210' Star Shannen Doherty Shocks Fans by Throwing Away Her Christmas Tree

Shannen Doherty is ready to put a difficult year behind her. And much to the surprise of her fans, she already made sure her Christmas tree is gone by the time she ushers in 2021.

Early this year, Shannen Doherty found out that her breast cancer returned. Apart from undergoing treatment, the actress also had to guard against the novel coronavirus, and she is ready to put the year in her rearview.

But as she indulged in the last bit of seasonal fun before the year came to an end, the 49-year-old also made sure to discard visible representations of 2020, like her Christmas tree.

Looking towards brighter days, the 49-year-old actress posted a video clip the echoed the sentiment. Alongside a clip of a person sledding downhill with his dog excitedly in tow, she wrote, "Heading into 2021."

Even when Doherty first got diagnosed with breast cancer, she kept her spirits up throughout the festive season.

Doherty received her first breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. After undergoing treatment, she went into remission, but in February, results showed that her cancer not only returned but spread as well.

With Christmas over, the actress also got rid of her Christmas tree before the year ended, and she showed off the discarded tree on social media, much to the surprise of her followers, as one commented:

KEEPING POSITIVE

Nonetheless, Doherty's former "Beverly Hills: 90210" co-star and friend Jason Priestly, said during an interview that she stays positive even though the recurrence and treatments have been rough on her, adding:

"She's always been a fighter. And I know that she will continue to fight as hard as she can. Last time I heard from her, she was in pretty good spirits."

CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS

Even when Doherty first got diagnosed with breast cancer, she kept her spirits up throughout the festive season in 2016 by finding the silver lining in the little things that bring her joy in life.

Despite the grueling radiation treatments Doherty underwent at the time, she made a point of going Christmas shopping with her mom, Rosa, to get something special for her husband, Kurt Iswarienko.

"Today my mom came with me because even though I'm so tired after, I'm going Christmas shopping!!! Got to get @kurtiswarienko a present!! I love the holidays," she excitedly wrote.

Shannen Doherty's mom celebrated her birthday on December 4, and the actress made sure to send her a touching tribute to share how much their relationship means to her.

Alongside a sweet snap of them together, Doherty gushed that she is "truly honored" to have a mother like Rosa, who is there for her throughout her battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
