More than a year after Prince Harry stepped down from his role as a senior member of the royal family, the Duke of Sussex made a return to the United Kingdom for his grandfather Prince Philip's funeral.

According to reports, Harry's visit back home might play a major role in easing the family's tension, which was intensified by the shocking revelations he and Meghan made during their CBS Special with Oprah Winfrey.

While speaking with ET Online, royal expert Katie Nicholl revealed how Harry and the rest of the family were navigating the difficult time amid the sudden reunion. Nicholl explained that Harry was hopeful about fixing things, saying:

"I'm told he is, of course, very upset, missing his grandfather, but also relieved to be here in the U.K. and happy to be here..."

She disclosed that it would be an "emotional reunion" for the parties involved and described it as a "silver lining" amid the pain of Prince Philip's loss. The expert also touched on Harry and William's strained relationship.

She told the publication that some senior members of the family are hopeful that the brothers get to spend time with each other — something they hadn't done in over a year — to kickstart the process of healing.

Two days after Prince Philip's demise was announced by Buckingham Palace, it was reported that Prince Harry arrived in the United Kingdom to pay respects to his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes explained that Meghan couldn't join her husband as she is far along in her second pregnancy and was instructed by her doctors not to travel. She remained in their home in California with their son Archie.

Upon his arrival, Prince Harry was taken to Frogmore Cottage to quarantine. He is set to spend five days self-isolating. The duke and his family used to live in the property before their exit from the royal family.

Per reports, Princess Eugenie currently lives in Frogmore Cottage with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their newborn son, August Philip. It is believed Harry is staying there as only a home guest.

It is believed that when Harry is cleared, his first personal visit would be to the Queen to comfort her. Prince Philip passed away on Friday, April 9, at 99-years-old. It was announced that his funeral would hold on April 17.

The royal funeral will take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The late Duke of Edinburgh reportedly desired a low-key ceremony, so there would be no lying-in-state. Instead, his body would be kept in a private chapel until the day of the funeral.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 30 people would be allowed at the funeral. However, the public can be a part of it through a televised stream. They have also been asked to pay their respects through donations rather than floral tributes.
