According to the authorities, Rodriguez was arrested on June 8, Tuesday morning in Denver, Colorado, by the Denver Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force led by the FBI.
The 35-year-old will be booked into an area jail pending extradition to Las Vegas. Rodriguez left the body of her child near a trail in the Mountain Springs area last month.
Lt. Ray Spencer held a press conference with the FBI Tuesday afternoon and provided an update on the case. He detailed the events leading up to the discovery of the young boy.
He was last spotted in San Jose with his mother, and they left California in a dark blue vehicle. They were spotted in Laguna Beach, followed by Victorville.
When the officials found him, they identified the 7-year-old as Liam Husted. The Detectives identified his mother as the suspect.
Rodriguez was with a man when she was found, but Spencer ruled out the possibility of the man's involvement in the case.
“We are all relieved that we were able to get her into custody so quickly,” he said. Spencer had previously urged people for help to find Liam’s body which was discovered on May 28.
During the press conference, Spencer did not reveal how Liam died, whether she used a weapon or the motive behind the killing. Instead, he referred to the coroner’s toxicology tests.

In May, a one-year-old boy was killed by his parents with household furniture. The toddler was beaten to death with several pieces of furniture and was found with severe injuries to his head and body.
He was later identified as Kevin Walker Jr. and was transported to the hospital by police officers, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
At the time of the report, investigators believed the incident stemmed from a domestic-related attack. Guarendi-Walker, 24, his mother, was arrested and charged with murder. The authorities also arrested 29-year-old Kevin Walker at the scene.
