Angelina Jolie Talks about Daughter Zahara's Post-surgery Struggles Because of Her Color
Angelina Jolie recently opened up about a default in the healthcare systems that affected her daughter, Zahara. The Hollywood star revealed that underwent surgery and struggled with some symptoms due to her skin color.
Angelina Jolie’s recent conversation with Malone Mukwende, a 21-year-old medical student, was an eye-opener on the disparity in the medical world and research about health care amid races.
Angelina and Mukwende discussed their similar speculation on how health care research has been largely based on white skin without adequate concentration and records on other races.

Angelina cited the first time she noticed the inadequacy. This was after Zahara, who she adopted from Ethiopia, underwent surgery. Angelina shared that the health expert in charge told her to watch out for change in the 16-year-old’s skin.
The star mom was asked to watch out for a pink color change. Jolie added that she noticed the difference in reaction through all of her children, who have varying backgrounds.
The mom-of-six shared that there were differences in how they all reacted to it when her kids had a rash. And when she went through some medical charts, she discovered that the diagnosis was based on white skin.
The court’s ruling granted Brad’s request to extend the time he spends with their kids.

The “Maleficent” icon’s experience was similar to that of Mukwende when he went to medical school. Mukwende was surprised by how much diagnosis and research were based on white skin, leaving out other races.
This made him gather speculations that most health research was carried out on 30% or 40% of the world’s population. The youngster was then geared to rectify the discrepancies.
Presently, Mukwende has a handbook, “Mind The Gap,” addressing these issues about the low representation of other races in healthcare. He also has a social media platform, Hutano, centered on this.
For a while now, Angelina and her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, have been entangled in child custody issues. However, at present, Brad has been granted shared custody with the actress.
The former power couple’s kids include Zahara, her older brother Maddox, twins Knox and Vivienne, Pax and Shiloh. Maddox has been excluded from the custody arrangement because he is no longer a minor.
The court’s ruling granted Brad’s request to extend the time he spends with their kids. This, in turn, meant the legal custody with Angelina became equal. This decision was made out of concern for the minor kids.
