Dr. Dre's Children: Some of His Kids Also Chose Music as a Career Path
Some of Dr. Dre's acknowledged children have followed his entertainment industry career path. The rapper's been forced to pay child support for at least one of his children, while another once lived in a car.
Dr. Dre might be most famous for being an incredible record producer and rapper, but he's also a loving father to several children.
The 2007 book, "Dr. Dre: The Biography," revealed that Dr. Dre was only a teenager when he fathered his first son, Curtis Young. On December 15, 1981, a young unnamed woman who lived close to the rapper in Paramount, California, welcomed the star's son.
However, it wasn't clear whether Dr. Dre was informed, but years later, Curtis, who used the rap name Hood Surgeon, revealed he met his father at age 21. The celebrity's firstborn child now has an Instagram presence with 386 posts and 49.1K followers.
On his Instagram biography, Curtis describes himself as a recording artist, lyricist, entrepreneur, executive producer, and the founder of Young Monarchy Ent, an arts and entertainment company. He followed in Dr. Dre's footsteps by becoming a rapper, and in 2013, he was still an emerging artist.
Curtis got to show off his rapping capabilities on March 28, 2013, when he headlined the "Cali Spring" Tour at Avec nightclub in Huntington Beach, California. In July 2021, Dr. Dre's son got to branch out with his creativity when he got a starring role in the feature film, "Charge It to the Game."
Besides acting, he and one of the other stars also composed the music for the movie. Curtis isn't Dr. Dre's only child, who was mentioned in his biography.
Dr. Dre's Children: LaTanya Danielle Young
After Dr. Dre's mother removed him from Centennial High and transferred him to Fremont High to avoid his continuing destructive behaviors, the rapper made new friends quickly. In early 1982, he became keen on 16-year-old Lisa Johnson.
His dating life with her worsened his school marks as he continued cutting classes to hang out with her. Their relationship led to the birth of LaTanya Danielle Young on January 19, 1983.
However, by the time of their child's birth, the former couple's relationship had started dwindling to the point where Lisa didn't want him in the delivery room.

Dr. Dre's girlfriend didn't want him there because of their parents' argument. Eventually, the rapper got to see and hold his daughter in Lisa's hospital room and presented her with various baby products from his mother. The pair separated when their daughter was five.
Sadly, by August 2021, LaTanya, then 38, revealed she was living out of her rented car since becoming homeless. She was working as a DoorDash and Uber Eats delivery driver and an assembler at a warehouse in California but couldn't afford an apartment.
The then mother of four claimed she hadn't received any money from her father in 18 months. LaTanya claimed she hadn't seen Dr. Dre in 18 years and only communicated with him through his team because she didn't have his number.
How Did Andre Young Jr., One of Dr. Dre's Kids, Die?
In 1990, Jenita Porter, Andre Young Jr.'s mother, filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre, asking for $5,000 per month in child support. Jenita revealed in her suit that the rapper had vowed to support Andre Jr. before he was born, but over their four-year relationship, she'd only received some gifts, small monies, and diapers.
Dr. Dre, then 25, admitted to being Andre Jr.'s father but claimed he'd only promised to pay $500 per month for child support. Sadly, in August 2008, Jenita found their 20-year-old son dead at 10:24 a.m. in his Woodland Hills home after a night out with friends.

She called the paramedics after finding him unresponsive. Through his publicist at the time, Dr. Dre said he was mourning his son's loss and asked for privacy as his family grieved. A different woman also welcomed the rapper's next child.
Not much is known about Nicole's daughter, but in 2017, she was interviewed by Vogue.
More about Dr. Dre's Children: Marcel Young
Michel’le Toussaint welcomed Dr. Dre's son, Marcel Young, in 1991. The songstress helped in the rapper's early breakthrough as a producer. It seems Marcel's father didn't deny his being his son as he was seen with the celebrity in an August 2015 Instagram post shared by his mother.
For 2016's Mother's Day, Dr. Dre's son wrote a touching tribute to Michelle on her Instagram account alongside a photo of them posing together.
Truice Young
Dr. Dre was once married to Nicole Young for almost 24 years, and during their union, they welcomed Truice. The young man has an Instagram account with 43 posts and 48.2K followers. Truice's father acknowledges him as his son and once shared an Instagram post of them.
The black and white image showed the pair posing together, showing off their matching tattoos. In the post's caption, Dr. Dre confirmed that they got matching DNA artwork done on the arms. Truice grew up with his sister and seems into art and music like his father.
Truly Young, Dr. Dre's Child with Nicole
Like her brother, Truice, Truly Young has an Instagram account with 321 posts and 121,000 followers. Dr. Dre has shared Instagram posts of her like in August 2018 and February 2019, where they were seen posing together outside, with him tagging her in the former post writing:
"Daddy Daughter Day at our new house."
Not much is known about Nicole's daughter, but in 2017, she was interviewed by Vogue, where it was revealed she's a singer and painter. Last but not least is Dr. Dre's stepchild, whom he treats as his son.
Tyler Young Isn't Dr. Dre's Biological Child
Dr. Dre's biography revealed that when Nicole was still his girlfriend, she went into their relationship with a child: Tyler Young. Despite him now being the rapper's biological son, Dr. Dre has shared Instagram photos of him and showed how he regards him, writing:
"With my Son, growing Young."
