Kate Hudson Realized Her Mom Goldie Hawn Was Her Confidante at 15 When She Told Her a Secret
While it is sometimes difficult for daughters to form close bonds with their mothers, especially during the troubled teenage years, Kate Hudson's story is quite different — she was 15 when she learned that her mother was her confidante.
Goldie Hawn and her daughter Kate Hudson have always shared not only a close mother-daughter relationship, but mutual trust and respect that many do not possess, and it all started with a teenage secret.
Hudson is Hawn's daughter from her marriage to Bill Hudson. Despite the controversies surrounding Bill's involvement, or lack thereof, in his children's life, Hawn and her daughter have created an unbreakable bond.

THE PERFECT MOTHER-DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP
Hudson is Hawn's only daughter, and it goes without saying that they share a lot, from their love for film to their green juicing regimes, but this bond that has grown strong over the years began with Hudson sharing a secret with her mother when she was a teenager.
At only 15, Hawn approached her daughter, determined to know if she was already engaging in sex. Hudson, contrary to what many girls her age would have done, was honest with her mother.
The "Almost Famous" actress admitted that she had been involved sexually with a boy she was crazy about, and instead of reacting like a parent in her situation would, the "Death Becomes Her" actress was supportive of her daughter.

This, to Hudson, became the epitome of honesty and trust, something that has seen the two grow closer and closer as they age.
BECOMING A MOM
As their bond grew stronger and stronger over the years, Hudson admits that they grew even closer when she had her own kids and began to appreciate the efforts and sacrifices that Hawn made for her children.
Hudson is now a mother of three, Ryder, Bingham, and Rani, from her relationships over the years. However, besides being moms, they also share something more intense. Hawn once revealed to Closer Weekly:
“As we grow older together, I can’t express the amount of love, joy, laughter, and sadness we share. “She understands me, I understand her. We’re girls. We share everything.”
Hudson mused over her mother's expectations of her children, saying that Hawn always made it clear to her kids that they needed to be kind, grateful, and present, but when it came to personal choices such as choosing a partner, she let them have all the freedom.
She also revealed that they talk every day, and when it is not possible to do so due to their busy schedule, they always make sure they don't last a week without talking. They also often accompany each other to red carpet events.
Hawn, in a different interview, made it known that they live in very close proximity with each other and so they do not have to worry about distance whenever they need each other's company.
Hawn and Hudson do not hide anything from each other, a unique dynamic to their relationship.
ADVICE ON CO-PARENTING
Hawn, who divorced her first husband in 1978 and began a life-long relationship with partner Kurt Russell, has mastered the art of co-parenting. Hawn and Russell have a blended family with two kids from her ex-husband, one that Rusell shares with his ex-wife, and one they had together.
Together, they have brought up the kids as a family, and Hudson admires that despite the complications that come with such families, they all became well-rounded human beings. It is these lessons that Hudson taps from her mother when raising her own children.
She has also been open before about how the "Overboard" actress raised them. Despite growing up with celebrity parents, Hawn taught her children to be responsible from an early age.
THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER
Hawn and Hudson do not hide anything from each other, which is a unique dynamic to their relationship. She attributes this to Hawn and Russell being "on top of things" during her formative years.
Hudson says she talks about everything, which has helped a great deal in cultivating a trustworthy relationship with those around her. She says about her mom:
"I can't keep things in, really. For as long as she can remember, I've never felt like I've had to hide anything from mom. If anything, she's always been my confidante."
Even as grown-ups with their own successful careers, the Hudson and Russell clan has maintained a close bond, and Hawn and Russell have made sure that the love trickles down to their grandchildren, with whom they can often be seen cuddling or having fun.
