Cop Sees Living Conditions of Lonely Sick Veteran, Brings Designer Wife to Fix Deteriorated House
A Redmond, Washington veteran was lonely and struggling with declining health when the unexpected happened. He met a police officer, and the public servant did something that turned the older man's life around.

HE DIDN'T SHARE HIS PROBLEMS
Lewis Harris was proud to have served in the Marine Corps, but as he reached his 80s, he had health struggles that prevented him from enjoying his old age.
He also experienced a significant decline in his quality of life but didn't want to burden others with his problems. While running errands one day in 2020, he suddenly forgot how to get home.
The veteran was terrified and knew he needed help, so he asked one of the shop employees for assistance. Harris explained:
"I told her, 'I’m not here to harm you, ma’am, I’m very sick,' I [have] a medical condition."

SHOCKED AFTER SEEING THE VETERAN'S HOUSE
The employee contacted their local authorities, and that's when officer Toly Nazariya arrived on the scene. The more he learned about Harris, the more he felt an urge to help him.
The police officer had an idea that left the veteran speechless. Toly knew someone that could help Harris, and she would be more than willing to assist.
He admired the older man and hoped to show him the respect and kindness he deserved. The veteran also enjoyed chatting with Toly and was happy when he offered to drop him at home. But the officer said he could've never imagined the conditions Harris was living in.

HE ASKED HIS WIFE FOR A FAVOR
Officer Toly was shocked that his new friend's home was dilapidated and needed renovation. Harris lived alone and couldn't keep his home in a pristine condition because of low energy and health constraints.
Thankfully, the police officer had an idea that left the veteran speechless. He knew someone that could help Harris, and she would be more than willing to assist. It was his wife, Tanya Nazariya.

IT WAS A BIG PROJECT
Tanya worked as an interior designer and could renovate the veteran's house effortlessly. She was eager to help and didn't limit herself. The home designer noted:
"I was like there is no point to finishing the cabinet. Rip it out. In that case, just rip out this wall. It just snowballed into a really big project."

MOVED TO TEARS
Within a few weeks, the story of their mission to improve Harris's home had reached countless businesses, and they wanted to donate suitable materials and a workforce to complete the job.
Harris couldn't believe his eyes when he saw quartz countertops and a gallery wall in his home. The unique feature displayed the veteran's military service accolades and provided the perfect finishing touch to his remodeled abode. Harris shared:
"It almost brought me to tears, okay. I had a couple of drops there, it really touched my heart and my soul."

THEY CHANGED HIS LIFE FOR THE BETTER
The changes left Harris emotional, and all he managed to say after seeing the house for the first time was: "Look at this! Oh, Lordy."
Thanks to a cop's kindness, the veteran's life was changed forever, and he could look forward to spending the final chapter of his life in a beautiful place.
Toly quickly became a guest in Harris's new Woodinville home and looked forward to spending more time with the respectable veteran.

THE VETERAN WAS GRATEFUL
Toly was incredibly proud of his wife's work and grateful for the support from their community. Harris also thanked the crew and building contractors responsible for the excellent job.
The veteran had a heartfelt message for them and revealed how he would pay their random act of kindness forward. He said:
"There’s nothing I can do to ever repay them other than just be a good American and try to help other people."
