Stella 'Stelle' Ciccone Brings 'Love, Laughter and Light' to Her Mother's Life
Stella "Stelle" Ciccone was only a child when her mother, Madonna, adopted her in Malawi. She has since become one of Madonna's beloved treasures and appears on the entertainer's social media platforms, showing her skills and talents.
Madonna was already a mother of four when she decided to adopt two more children, one of them being Stella "Stelle" Ciccone, from Malawi.
Since the adoption, Stella, sometimes referred to as Stelle online, has sparked public interest. Her mother never shies away from speaking about Stella publicly, including sharing the reason for her adoption.
In a previous interview, Madonna claimed that the feeling of loving her children could not be explained. "You look into the eyes of somebody, you feel their soul, you feel touched by them – that's it," she said.
She first felt this when she met Stella at Home of Hope. After a few visits, the singer longed for Stella's presence while at home, and before she knew it, the adoption process began.
In August 2022, Stella celebrated her tenth birthday with a wig-themed party at home. Her mom posted photos from the event and paid tribute to her daughter, noting that she "[brings] so much Love, Laughter, and Light into all of our lives."
Stella Was Born in Malawi
Stella was born in Malawi on August 24, 2012, alongside her twin sister, Estere, who Madonna also adopted. The kids were already five when their adoptive mother took them under her wing.
According to the "Like a Virgin" songstress, her youngest daughters fit in the family as though they had always been present in the household. Soon after her arrival, Stella got used to life with her new family.
However, the process of getting Stella home was not easy after locals accused the government of granting Madonna special privileges to what should be illegal in their country. It turned out that a Malawian law prevented foreigners from adopting kids from Malawi and taking them overseas.
Madonna had to face a legal battle where the judge eventually ruled in her favor, provided she continuously provided the twins with a good home.
Stella Is Already Good at Dancing and Playing Soccer
Stella is growing up to be a talented young girl with musical abilities. Previously, Madonna proudly showcased a video of her daughter playing renditions of Bach and Borodin on the piano.
In another Instagram share, Stella danced with her twin to Missy Elliott's "Pass That Dutch." The sisters stunned their mother's fans as they did cartwheels and complex footwork during the performance.
Besides her entertainment activities, Stella is also an athletic young girl who plays soccer. Stella's mom supports her extracurricular activities and brings her to soccer practice while watching from the sidelines.
Stella Has a Bunch of Siblings
Stella is undoubtedly being raised by a strong woman who loves her unconditionally. Besides her mom, Stella has several older siblings who show the same love and care.
Her eldest sibling, Lourdes Leon, was born in 1996, during Madonna's marriage to Carlos Leon. Lourdes grew up pursuing a modeling career and has been the face of several known brands, including Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Mugler, and Swarovski.
Stella also has an older brother, Rocco Ritchie, born during Madonna's relationship with Guy Ritchie in 2000. Like Lourdes, Rocco became a model and an actor.
In 2005, Stella's other brother, David Banda, was born in Malawi. Madonna adopted him the following year after taking a humanitarian trip to the country.
Madonna adopted another Malawian child in 2009, Chifundo "Mercy" James, born in 2006. James was the last adopted child before Stella and her twin came along.
