As a fitness icon, Suzanne Somers is no stranger to sharing her journey with her fans on social media, posting candid photos of her workouts and healthy meals. Unfortunately, not everyone is a fan of her openness, with some criticizing her for posting intimate pictures.

But Somers isn't one to let the haters get her down. With the unwavering support of her longtime husband, she remains unshaken in her commitment to taking control of her own body and making bold choices that make her feel good about herself.

Somers is known for her dedication to wellness and her youthful appearance. Recently, she posed with her granddaughters, Camelia and Violet, in a promotional photo for her new Suzanne Organics product, Chocolate Gut Renew, looking happy and fit.

However, Somers' focus on health goes beyond just her appearance. In 2001, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After having a 2.4-centimeter tumor removed and undergoing radiation treatment, Somers decided not to pursue chemotherapy.

Instead, she opted for mistletoe extract injections, known as Iscador, to strengthen her immune system. While Iscador is used in some holistic cancer treatments, particularly in Europe, it is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

After her breast cancer diagnosis, Somers made significant changes to her lifestyle, embracing a holistic approach to her health. She checks her hormone levels, takes supplements to maintain balance, practices yoga every other day, and uses organic skincare and hair products.

The "Three's Company" actress emphasized the importance of paying attention to one's body and making health a top priority to age gracefully.

She credits her healthy lifestyle and balanced hormones for her active sex life with her 84-year-old husband, Alan Hamel, and overall happiness at the age of 76.

Criticized for Her Candid Photos

Even at 76, Somers is not shy about posting pictures of her toned body and long legs on social media. She is always open and honest with the people who follow her online and is happy with her looks.

Despite being a beloved actress and fitness icon, some of Somers' fans were taken aback when she posted on Instagram a photo of herself sitting naked in the middle of a field to honor Earth Day in April 2021.

Some argued that Somers shouldn't be posting such revealing images at her age. A fan expressed disappointment in Somers for her need to bare all to feel beautiful, noting that it was unnecessary. The fan also suggested she had to stop because it was "not flattering."

In a separate daring photo, Somers flaunted her long and flawless legs wearing only a long-sleeved top, prompting another upset fan to ask why older actresses must display themselves nude or semi-nude instead of embracing their age.

The fan also made a sarcastic comment about other commenters being "shallow and ignorant" for paying attention to the photo instead of focusing on important issues like hunger and homelessness.

Meanwhile, a Twitter user accused Somers of editing her photos, citing two images on the platform. The pictures also featured Somers' husband. The user's post read:

"My sister has always been right, you can't hide your age from your neck, hands, or knees. And Suzanne Somers hid two out of three. Old knees are real."

Another Twitter user, who disapproves of Somers' controversial "nude selfie," appears to be insulting Somers' daring self-expression, calling her "too old."

However, a fan defended Somers, commenting back to the insulting user that the actress was gorgeous and did it on purpose, adding, "Thank you God and Ms. Sommers for reflection as well as beauty."

Somers remains unfazed by the criticism she has received from her social media followers, as she is completely confident in her appearance.

For Somers and Hamel, their close bond has meant that they have not spent a single night apart in 40 years, even during the pandemic.

Still in Love with Her Husband of 45 Years

Somers and her husband have been married for 45 years and still have a strong, loving relationship. The couple tied the knot in 1977. Somers said of her and her husband's union:

"God, our relationship has always been amazing."

Somers also said the key to a strong relationship is giving each other a lot of attention. In a recent podcast interview, she revealed that she and Hamel have sex three times a day and attribute their "hotter than ever" relationship to certain "hormones."

Somers said she regularly compliments her husband and shows her appreciation for him. She gave an example of complimenting his fit body as he walked by her in the morning.

The small gesture greatly impacts her husband and eventually strengthened their relationship. But the veteran actress knows that maintaining a solid relationship requires more than just physical connection. She emphasized the importance of regularly going on date nights and giving each other undivided attention.

Despite the challenges that all relationships face, Suzane Somers believes it's possible to overcome them and create a lasting and loving partnership.

She also advised other couples to remember the love, respect, and hope that they had in the early days of their relationship and to try to recreate that feeling.

For the beloved actress and Hamel, their close bond has meant that they have not spent a single night apart in 40 years, even during the pandemic.

Somers stands firm in her desire to embrace her body and share her journey with her fans, besides sharing her wisdom about marriages and relationships.

Regardless of the people criticizing her appearance, the fearless actress will continue to express herself in her own way and encourage others to do the same.
