Sherry Holmes’ Husband Blake Steed and Their Family Show

Although Sherry Holmes' father, Mike Holmes, spearheads their family's reality show, she has made great strides in her career. She calls herself a shy woman but goes out of her comfort zone to take care of her family and help others through her knowledge of construction.

Mike James Holmes is a known Canadian builder who rose to fame for helping homeowners thoroughly inspect their newly built residences.

His kids often appear alongside him on their reality show as they are involved in the family business. However, this was not always the case. His daughter, Sherry Holmes, previously showed no interest in construction.

She turned down the opportunity to star in their television show until her family started helping natural disaster victims. Sherry has since appeared in "Holmes Inspection" (2009) and "Holmes Makes it Right: Retooled" (2019).

Sherry is one of Mike's three children from his first marriage to Alexander Lorex. Her siblings are Amanda Holmes and Mike Holmes Jr.

Sherry Talks Considers Herself a Super Shy Person

Growing up with a father like Mike meant being exposed to the construction industry her whole life. Sherry helped build a treehouse with her dad and siblings as a child. Recalling her childhood, Sherry revealed that her father made her a Barbie house.

Still, Sherry showed no interest in making a career out of her knowledge of the craft. She even passed on the opportunity to join their family business, thinking construction was more of a hobby than a career.

Sherry was 20 years old when Mike asked her to be part of his construction team on television. She wasn't interested to build homes as a career at that time, so she declined. Years later, Sherry found herself shocked to be in the same industry she initially did not want to join.

The possibility of working in construction began after Hurricane Katrina left many homeless. Sherry's family used their expertise to help rebuild homes while filming their progress on "Holmes in New Orleans."

Beyond her family business, Sherry has worked with Habitat For Humanity GTA and given speeches during events.

This moved the young builder to lend a hand in the project to help those left with nothing. Sherry was no expert in building, so she learned from the men around her as she was the only woman on site.

When the project was completed, other construction team members tried to poach Sherry from her father's company. The skill she displayed while working on the project undoubtedly attracted the attention of others in the industry. However, it was her commitment to helping that motivated and inspired Sherry. She said:

"It was phenomenal. I would do it again in a heartbeat."

Sherry is now a fixture on television, but even as she has appeared in front of the camera for years, she is uncomfortable speaking before others. "I'm terrified of public speaking," she explained, calling herself "super shy."

However, she stepped out of her comfort zone to progress at work and help others. Beyond her family business, Sherry has worked with Habitat For Humanity GTA and given speeches during events. Her calling to help others has taught her to be outspoken and use her voice for the greater good. She said:

"It's just so cool to see people who actually care and to see the impact I'm making."

Holmes All Work Together as a Family Business Project

Because of her current job, Sherry gets to work with and spend more time with her family. Her father is also happy that he has his children to bond with while getting the job done.

Working together also strengthened their family's relationship and, according to Mike Jr., made their dad more like a brother than a father. Sherry agreed with her brother's statement and revealed that she and Mike have also formed a friendship. Nevertheless, the respect for a parent remained. Mike Jr. added:

"We truly have fun together. We love working with each other. We laugh – we laugh more than we don't. It's a really fun environment."

Unfortunately, Mike's other daughter, Amanda, is not connected to their family business and chooses to live a private life, building her own career path.

Sherry Built a Loving Home with Her Husband

In December 2018, Sherry married her longtime boyfriend-turned-husband, Blake Steed. The couple became parents in April 2019 as they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Cali Kay Holmes Steed.

At that time, Sherry took to her Instagram account to share an adorable photo of her newborn wrapped in a pink blanket.

Two years later, in October 2021, the couple became proud parents of two as they welcomed another daughter, Oaklyn Summer Holmes Steed.

Sherry also commemorated the arrival of her youngest child with a Facebook photo of her father holding baby Oaklyn. Mike initially shared the photo on his social media, introducing his granddaughter to the world.

Unfortunately, not much is known about Sherry's mom. Her father, Mike Holmes, had since moved on and married his second wife, Anna Zappia, who also lives a private life. The couple has been dating since the early 2000s and tied the knot after several years.

Mike is fortunate to have his children continue his legacy in construction. Like him, Judy Sheindlin also relies on her children to carry her legacy. Famous for her show, "Judge Judy," some of her kids have followed in her footsteps and joined the family business.
