For different reasons, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got emotional for Shiloh and Zahara.
Mother of six, Angelina Jolie, admitted that she honors the roots of her children and that "adoption" and "orphanage" are positive words in their household.
The A-list actress spoke candidly about her adoption experience in an interview in June 2020. She adopted three of her kids, Pax, Maddox, and Zahara.

Jolie said each process was a "beautiful way of becoming a family," adding that the main thing about it was freely speaking about the experience and sharing more about the journey.
The doting mom said she is not privy to speak about pregnancy with her adopted kids but tells them about her journey of making them a part of her life and what it was like meeting them for the first time.

Jolie added that adopted kids arrive in a family with "a beautiful mystery of a world" that differs entirely from their adoptive parents' world.
The award-winning movie star explained that this especially applied to those from a different racial background and other countries, "that mystery, that gift, is so full."

Hollywood's leading lady said adoptive parents should not allow their children to lose their sense of authenticity about where they come from, adding:
"They have roots that you do not. Honor them. Learn from them. It's the most amazing journey to share."
Why Was Jolie Slammed for Cutting Her Daughters' Hair?
Jolie is a passionate humanitarian, and to show her continuous support of the women of Iran – who are discriminated against in their country – she and her daughters displayed their solidarity with them.
On February 20, 2023, the Academy Award winner promoted a new humanitarian art project on Instagram – where women – including her daughters Shiloh and Zahara – cut off their hair to support the Iranian women.
Jolie wrote in her caption that she and her loved ones are partaking in the said project, which could mean she also cut off her youngest daughter Vivienne's hair.
The California native shared pictures of her daughters getting their hair cut on the social media upload. She included a video of all the hair used for the exhibition.
Jolie used a pair of scissors on her daughter Zahara's black ponytail and showed off her other daughter Shiloh's buzz cut in two separate photos.
Following the haircut session, "The Bone Collector" star captured images of strands from both Shiloh and Zahara's hair.

The loving parent said anyone could participate in the project while revealing the exhibition would occur in New York City on March 8, 2023.
After posting about it online, Jolie's Instagram followers slammed her for cutting her daughters' hair and supporting the project.

Some speculated that there may be a hidden agenda behind the said initiative, claiming the practice, which contains DNA, may be used for harmful purposes.
"This is exactly the theft of my genetic information and yours. Please don’t be simple. Our people do not need this kind of support," one person commented.

Another individual wrote that the project is a "biologic war against Iranian people...shame on you." A third Instagram user undermined its purpose, writing, "This isn't support, it's simply a DNA sample project!"
Despite the negative comments, some fans stood behind Jolie's initiative, and one social media thanked her for being an inspiration to stand up for "women's rights."
Why Jolie & Brad Pitt Got Emotional for Shiloh & Zahara
Out of Jolie's kids, whom she shares with her ex-husband, actor Brad Pitt, are still teenagers; two have already left the nest. In August 2022, she dropped off the former couple's eldest daughter, Zahara, 18, at Spelman College.
The proud mom appeared in a video showing her helping her child move into the institution. She said at the time, "I'm going to start crying. I have not started crying yet," adding she was composing herself.

The president of the college, Dr. Helene Gayle, reportedly told Jolie that there would come a time when she would be emotional at other collegiate functions and joked that such events are deliberately designed to evoke emotions.
Jolie stated she was "holding it together still," adding she was looking forward to the next day. Spelman's vice president, Darryl Holloman, asked the Hollywood star how it felt to be a Spelman mom, and she said she was thrilled.
A month before accompanying her daughter to college, Jolie gushed about her child on Instagram alongside a group picture of Zahara and her fellow Spelman students smiling.
She congratulated them for enrolling at the institution and said it was an exceptional "place" to be and that she was honored that her child would be part of the institution.
Meanwhile, Holloman posted a clip of Jolie and Gayle on social media, welcoming the three-time Golden Globe Award winner's daughter. He captioned his post: "Welcome to campus, Zahara, c'2026!!"
Jolie and Pitt could not be prouder parents. Their daughter Shiloh, 16, appears to have a passion for dance and performing as she shared a video while dancing. During an interview, Pitt was asked about the clip and said, "It brings a tear to the eye, yeah."

When asked whether he was okay with his kids forging paths in show business, the doting dad stated his only hope was for them to find something that brought them joy. "I love when they find their own way, find things they are interested in, and flourish."
