Not long after his breakup, Freeman welcomed his second child, Saifoulaye, in 1960. However, the actor never revealed any details about the mother of his son.

Almost a decade later, Freeman expanded his family. He married Jeanette Adair Bradshaw in 1967, and together they welcomed a daughter, Morgana.

Looking at his early days of fatherhood, Freeman confessed that the experience was not as glamorous as many might think. Firstly, he said he had two kids out of wedlock which to him did not make him a father.
He admitted that it took a while to fully step into a fatherly role because he was too focused on becoming a successful actor. So, parenting and acting became challenging to balance.

Nonetheless, the actor shifted his priorities and became an even better father. Now he loves to see his offspring creating their own families, "Now, I am in my dotage. I am a great-grandfather," said Freeman.
Even though Freeman loves being a grandfather, he said he's not very hands-on. "I haven't changed diapers. But when I had daughters, I changed theirs. Being hands-on makes a difference in your child's life," he explained.

Unfortunately, a few days after the incident, more bad news came. Freeman and Colley-Lee announced their divorce.
Freeman has lived on his 126-acre ranch for many years and has given his fans a glimpse of the property on his Instagram. However, the actor has considered selling his home because his left hand no longer functions.
Having one hand working has made it difficult for Freeman to enjoy his favorite activities around the ranch, including horse riding, flying, and sailing his boat. "I've given up on some fun things," expressed the star.
When it comes to making movies, Freeman said his scenes are usually put together and filmed early into production so he can get the rest of his needs.

E'Dena's boyfriend, Lamar Davenport, was sentenced to 20 years for her murder. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr confirmed that Davenport had consumed alcohol and drugs at the time of the murder.
Vance Jr. described E'Dena as a driven person that was loved by her family, but her life was sadly taken in the most horrific manner. Freeman said he did not was E'Dena's father, Edward Lee Hines, to receive a cent of his granddaughters fortune because he was not present in her life.

According to the star, E'Dena's parents divorced when she was three years old, and her father had only seen her once or twice before she died.
Freeman said Hines never contributed to his daughter's food, clothing, or education, nor did he try to build a relationship with E'Dena.
The actor clarified that he played the father figure role in his grandaughter's life. "Throughout E’Dena’s entire lifetime, my daughter Deena Adair and I were the primary sources of support for E'Dena financially, emotionally, mentally, and physically." reiterated Freeman.
