Jordan Bratman Is Christina Aguilera's Ex-husband: Inside Their Relationship
Christina Aguilera's first husband, Jordan Bratman, represented all the qualities the singer never saw in a masculine figure during her troubled upbringing. But time proved all the wiser as it fostered her and Jordan's growth and revealed they no longer wanted the same things.
New York City native Jordan Bratman drew his first breath in The Bronx on June 4, 1977. Though he is affiliated with the music industry behind the scenes, Jordan is chiefly recognized as singer Christina Aguilera's first husband.
Jordan and Christina's romance was undeniable, and those who witnessed it would attest. But, unfortunately, it didn't stand the test of time and was over by the onset of the 2010s. Although they were initially happy, their relationship changed as their individual growth pulled them apart.

Jordan Bratman Was Christina Aguilera's Husband
Jordan and Christina became engaged in February 2005 when they vacationed in Carmel, California. It was a grand romantic gesture set in a room full of red and pink decorations, including balloons, gift boxes, rose petals, and a poem. Christina opened all the boxes until she reached the one with a ring inside.
Jordan then went down on one knee and asked, "Will you do me the honor of being my wife?" And the rest is history. The former couple celebrated their engagement in what one attendee called "a really romantic party" in Santa Monica, where their families met for the first time.

The Bratmans and Aguileras met again for a rehearsal dinner a few days before Christina and Jordan's nuptials, which took place in November 2005. Christina donned a Christian Lacroix wedding gown, with her bridesmaids wearing dresses designed by Stevie Wonder's second ex-wife, Kai Milla — the fellow singer's first wife died in 2004.
Christina and Jordan signed a prenup when they married. They announced their divorce in October 2010, which was the same year Christina began dating her longtime partner Matthew Rutler. Her divorce from Jordan was then finalized in April 2011.

Christina Called Jordan a Good Father
The "Burlesque" star opened up about her and Jordan's separation a few months after filing for divorce. She described their relationship as "unhealthy" and "unhappy," and although she was torn about splitting up her family, she said, "I knew I had to end it."
The two were best friends before their relationship developed into something more. Christina found safety and security and Jordan's presence, as she explained, "He represented stability and love and safety — qualities I never got from a male figure growing up. I felt we could share the rest of our lives together."

Moreover, she added, "I wanted to marry someone who would be a good father. And he is." But things took a turn further down the line of first-time motherhood, which coincided with Christina stepping into womanhood. She noted that Jordan also "grew as a person," and ultimately, that played a role in their choice to part ways.
Their son, Max Bratman (born on January 12, 2008), was another reason. Christina worried about him witnessing her arguments with Jordan, an experience that resembled her own childhood. She said children could feel when things weren't right at home, and she didn't want that for Max.

Jordan and Christina 'Make Blended Families Work'
In January 2020, Jordan joined Christina and Max for the "Genie in a Bottle" singer's early birthday celebration. Christina posted a now-deleted picture showing Jordan holding a cake with candles in front of her, with Max embracing her from behind.
Captioning the sweet photo, she wrote, "We make blended families work. It’s a beautiful thing." Christina's blended family comprises Jordan and Max, her partner Matthew and their daughter, Summer Rain Rutler, whom she welcomed in 2014.
