Ocean is one of the most popular singer-songwriters and rappers of this day. Born in Long Beach, California, on October 28, 1983, Ocean grew up in New Orleans.

However, he relocated to Los Angeles in his teens to pursue a music career. He began his musical journey by ghostwriting songs for mega-stars such as Beyonce and Justin Bieber.

Ocean ultimately became a star in his own right in 2011 when he released a mixtape of his music titled "Nostalgia, ULTRA," followed by "Channel ORANGE," which was unveiled in 2012. The critically acclaimed artist was first exposed to jazz music and R&B as a child.

He started recording music in high school, and after graduating in 2005, Ocean enrolled at the University of New Orleans. But he soon dropped out after Hurricane Katrina destroyed his recording facility. Afterward, the "Nights" singer pursued a music career full-time.

Frank Ocean Cried Like a Baby the Night He Came Out as Queer

Amid his rise to superstardom, Frank Ocean came out to the world as a queer man. He penned an open letter on Tumblr in July 2012 called "thank you's" and revealed that when he was 19, he met another 19-year-old young man with whom he fell in love.

Ocean said the person in question was his "first love" and that the experience "changed my life." He thanked his former lover and noted he would forever remember him.

The announcement shook the hip-hop industry, which had been notoriously unwelcoming to homosexuality. Ocean, who has sung alongside rapper Jay Z, came out as bisexual, and that same year, he got candid about it during an interview, admitting it was difficult.

When asked if he feared the aftermath of acknowledging his sexuality to the public, the "Thinkin Bout You" singer admitted:

"The night I posted it, I cried like a baby. [..] I was happy. I hadn't been happy in so long."

Ocean's father was homophobic. In June 2016, he recalled when he was six years old and heard his parent name-calling a transgender waitress.

His dad dragged him out of the diner while refusing to be served by her "because she was dirty." "That was the last afternoon I saw my father," Ocean said of their troubled relationship. While he was relieved to come out to the public, fellow Hollywood star Anderson Cooper admitted to living in constant regret after coming out.

Meanwhile, regarding his romantic relationships, the R&B singer is very private about that part of his life and keeps them under wraps. The same applies to Mexican-American actor Harvey Guillen

Frank Ocean Was Linked to Willy Cartier & Memo Guzman in the Past

Frank Ocean has been linked to several people in the past, just like actress Maude Apatow. In December 2012, he posted a photo of an unknown man embracing him from behind on his Instagram feed.

Multiple publications identified the man as a male model from France named Willy Cartier. Ocean had shared several photos of him and his then-rumored boyfriend online.

One picture showed the two on the GQ red carpet, and another saw Cartier lying in the trunk of a car as they appeared to be meditating. During a 2019 interview with Gayletter, Ocean was asked if he used dating apps, and he answered:

"I don't use dating apps. I've been in a relationship for three years. I definitely wasn't using dating apps before then. I don't think I would use dating apps now."

Although he is not into dating apps, "This Is Us" star Chrissy Metz found love using them. In addition, Ocean was rumored to have been in a relationship with Memo Guzman since 2017. They were spotted at the Las Vegas Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor fight, but their romance was never confirmed.

Frank Ocean Recently Sparked Dating Rumors With Singer Omar Apollo

Frank Ocean has been linked to singer Omar Apollo. In August 2022, the two happened to be in Italy simultaneously and were spotted at the same locations.

The "In My Room" hitmaker was also spotted in the audience at SZA's tour, where Apollo was reportedly opening for the singer.

In November 2022, Apollo, an Indiana native, responded to a social media troll who tweeted asking whether he identified as bisexual or not (one star who identifies as bisexual is Italian musician Victoria De Angelis).

The singer-songwriter replied sarcastically because he does not label his sexuality but has been open about his queerness. Meanwhile, he and Ocean have never confirmed the dating rumors. Ocean is secretive about his love life.
