Jolie-Pitt's attendance was a rare occurrence because the 21-year-old is hardly ever seen out and about. The famous son of Brad Pitt and Jolie spends most of his time busying himself with his studies in South Korea but flew down to Washington, DC, for the special occasion.

The public has been left shocked by the photos captured of the mom and her son. Many have left comments about how strange the duo looks together, specifically honing in on Jolie-Pitt's appearance.

The lavish presidential state dinner in honor of South Korea happened on Wednesday, April 26. Of the extensive 200-guest list, Jolie and her son were two, and the mother-son duo dressed to impress.

The "Tomb Raider: Lara Croft" star stunned in a cream-colored gown adorned with a beautiful matching blazer placed atop her shoulders. She finished off her delicate look by accessorizing with glamorous gold earrings, a necklace, and a clutch to match. Her son Jolie-Pitt wore an elegant black suit covered by a long fancy-looking black coat and paired his look with shiny black dress shoes.

Jolie-Pitt looked very grown-up in his smart suit as he popped his collar for a picture snapped by the media in attendance. He may have looked too grown for the public's liking as an influx of concerning comments began popping up on social media after photographs were released.

Angelina Jolie Was A Single Mom When She Got Maddox

Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt is the eldest of six kids shared between Jolie and her ex-husband Pitt. As the eldest, he was Jolie's first child, adopted from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002. The "Salt" talent had visited and fallen in love with the country a year before while filming "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."

Jolie's connection with her eldest son was instantaneous, and she reportedly cried extensively after seeing him abandoned in the orphanage. At the time of Jolie-Pitt's adoption, she was still married to "Bad Santa" actor Billy Bob Thornton. Some months following Jolie's return with her son, the couple split, and she became a single mother.

An incredibly proud Jolie boasts about how she received a rewarding phone call from her son's flight school telling her how advanced Maddox is; the mom of six also stated how sophisticated Maddox's language skills have gotten:

"He's [pretty] capable and always takes me by surprise. He's been practicing flying, [and] then they called me the other day and said, 'So Mad can go solo,' and I nearly dropped the phone! He's [also] been taking French and Russian and all these different languages."

The famous son has also been enrolled at Yonsei University in South Korea since 2019, which his doting mother Jolie was elated about. At the institution, Jolie-Pitt studies chemistry and works on practicing his Korean. When speaking about watching her son grow, Jolie shared the following message:

"I'm so happy for [him] that he's grown up into such a good man. I say that [be]cause he's smart and he's doing his work, but he's also wild. He's balanced."
