Is Freddie Dennis Dating Sam Clemmett? They Are Not Romantically Linked in Real-Life

After playing a gay role in "Queen Charlotte," there have been questions about whether or not Freddie Dennis is gay offscreen and in a relationship with his costar. While there is still mystery around if Freddie Dennis is dating anyone, his on-screen love interest is happily married to a woman.

Originally from London, England, Dennis shot to stardom following his role as a footman to a young King George in "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story." The actor has also appeared in HBO's "The Nevers" and splits his time between photography and acting.

Although Dennis's role in the "Bridgerton" spinoff is his breakout role, the actor has already received praise for his inclusive portrayal of a romantic relationship between two characters of the LGBTQ community.

In "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," Dennis plays Reynolds, who finds himself in a love affair with Queen Charlotte's footman Brimsley, played by Sam Clemmett. In the series, viewers watch as Reynolds and Brimsley are forced to keep their relationship behind closed doors.

Although Shonda Rhimes has paved the way for including same-sex couples in her projects, fans critiqued the showrunner for her heterosexual storytelling of "Bridgerton" during its prior seasons.

Then along came Dennis and Clemmett, who received praise for their representation of the LGBTQ community on television. While speaking about his and Clemmett's onscreen romance, Dennis said:

"It's such a celebration of love, actually. The whole show... all of "Bridgerton," is about love, and it's just completely brilliant that we can celebrate the love that exists between these two young men."

The costars also revealed that it filled them with pride to not only be a part of the progressive and inclusive series but to be able to tell the story as well. "We're both very, very proud to be able to tell the first LGBTQIA+ story within the "Bridgerton"-verse," Clemmett revealed.

Following the hit Netflix series' premiere, fans turned to social media to rave about the chemistry between Dennise and Clemmett. "Thank you, "Bridgerton," for a gay love story," one fan tweeted.

"SPOILERS... can we talk about my Queen Charlotte's favorite ship, aka the gay one? Brimsley and Reynolds have my heart forever. I would like to give them a beautiful name. What do you think of Reymsley?" another fan shared, and a third added, "The gay "Bridgerton" side story is so adorable I'm praying it ends well."

While Dennis has yet to reveal details about his love life off camera, he did share the story of how he became an actor. Although he had aspirations of pursuing a career in film since he was a child, the freelance photographer was much older when he decided to finally take the plunge.

After enrolling in drama school and signing with an agency, Dennis kickstarted his acting career. While talking about his role on "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,"— costarring Corey Mylchreest and India Amateifio— Dennis said:

"To be honest, I consider this as my first ever role. I was a day player on HBO's "The Nevers," but playing Reynolds in "Queen Charlotte" was a significantly bigger and more intimidating task. But one in which I loved every minute."

As for his costar, Sam Clemmett recently married his "best friend." In November 2022, the actor took to Instagram to celebrate the two-week anniversary of his wedding day and gave fans a look at his themed wedding pictures with his wife. "I've been married to my best friend for 2 weeks. Damn, I'm lucky," Clemmett captioned the post.
