Proud Northamptonshire native James Acaster worked in a pub and played drums for a few bands before venturing into comedy in 2008. He showcased his talent for the first time at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2009.

Between 2012 and 2016, Acaster broke a record for receiving the Best Comedy Show nomination consecutively each year. In 2017, he kicked off his "Trelogy" tour in the U.K., performing three consecutive shows, "Recognize," "Represent," and "Reset" each night.

The addition of "Recap" then formed the fourth part of his 2018 Netflix mini-series "Repertoire." Acaster is also an author with the books "Classic Scrapes" (2017) and "Perfect Sound Whatever" (2019) to his name.

Both made the Sunday Times bestseller lists in their respective years. The comedian also hosts two podcasts, "Off Menu" with fellow funnyman Ed Gamble and "Perfect Sounds," both on iTunes.

Acaster has, however, remained guarded about his personal life. Despite this, bits of his love life have been newsworthy items in the past.

James Acaster Used to Date Fellow Comedian Rose Matafeo

Rose Matafeo is a BAFTA-award-nominated actress, writer, and producer. The New Zealand native, born in 1992, is chiefly recognized for her 2020 comedy special, "Horndog," but has also become a familiar face on TV screens.

The 31-year-old has starred in the comedy series "Funny Girls" and "Golden Boy," and the film "Baby Done," alongside "Harry Potter" star Matthew Lewis. She also wrote and starred in her own sitcom "Starstruck."

Little is known about her relationship with Acaster, but reports say they dated between 2015 and 2016. Matafeo even moved to the U.K. to be with Acaster, but their dynamic was less than ideal. They barely saw each other, leaving Matafeo feeling homesick and alone.

Louise Ford Left James Acaster for Much Older Rowan Atkinson

Louise Ford is an actress who alternates between performing on screen and onstage. She's best known for her appearances in the TV shows "Doc Martin," "Curious Under the Stars," "Misfits," and "M.I.High."

Her most recent credits come from playing Kate Middleton in the British comedy series, "The Windsors," satirically depicting the Royal family's lives. She began dating Acaster in 2011, but their relationship started falling by the wayside in 2013.

That year, Ford had met Rowan Atkinson, and the two were co-starring in the stage production "Quartermaine's Terms." Acaster said Ford grew distant when she started working on the show.

Atkinson had separated from his former spouse of over two decades Sunetra Sastry, with whom he shares kids Lily Atkinson and Ben Atkinson. In 2014, he and Ford were officially a couple. That was the year Acaster made a discovery, as he lamented:

"I got left for Mr Bean. [...] I opened the newspaper and there was a full-page story. No one else in the history of time has ever been left for Mr Bean."

The podcaster made the revelation during a stand-up show in March 2019. His ex and the "Mr. Bean" star welcomed a daughter, Isla Atkinson, in December 2017, and it appears the couple is still going strong.

James Acaster Hasn't Been Linked to Anyone in a Long Time, but He May Be No Longer Single

It's unclear if Acaster is romantically involved with anyone at the moment. The funnyman is rarely active on social media and rarely speaks about his personal life.

In December 2022, however, he touched briefly on his love life. He was talking about gigs coming to a halt during the height of the pandemic, saying he found the "absence" of them to be a positive thing.

"Not feeling stressed before walking onstage and instead watching a boxed set with my girlfriend," he explained. Still, Acaster has yet to share more details about this supposed lover.
