Does Steve Lacy Have a Girlfriend or Boyfriend? The Bisexual Musician Has Never Confirmed His Dating Status
Steve Lacy's dating history became a subject of interest following his collaboration with a fellow musician. Despite a hopeful reaction from fans, the singer has never addressed the speculations but has been forthcoming about his sexuality.
Steve Lacy's interest in music ignited at a young age in church. The California native, born in Compton, picked up his first guitar at ten years old and hasn't looked back since. He joined the well-known band The Internet in high school while they worked on their third LP, "Ego Death."
He co-produced half the songs on the Grammy-nominated record using phone applications. The musician has since contributed to several artists' high-profile albums, including Solange Knowles' "When I Get Home" and J. Cole's "4 Your Eyez Only."

In addition to having worked with Kendrick Lamar, Jhene Aiko, Big Sean, and Kali Uchis, Lacy has dished out his own projects, including the albums "Apollo XXI" and, most recently, his 2022 studio album "Gemini Rights." Toward releasing the last album, he collaborated with fellow singer Fousheé.
They worked on the two songs, Fousheé's "double standards" and their duet "Sunshine." The visuals for the first track featured some romantic scenes that led to dating speculations. Months later, Lacy opened up about his sexual orientation.

Steve Lacy Used to Be Confused about His Sexuality
In an interview with The Guardian, Lacy confessed that he'd felt out of place throughout childhood. "I never felt like a normal girl," he joked. He was attracted to girls and boys, but he'd learned that liking the latter gender and fantasizing about kissing boys was taboo.
Still, he couldn't help but think, "It sounds crazy, electrifying, that that could ever happen to me." Lacy's initial idea of boys kissing boys involved effeminate men engaging in the act, but he never quite fit that category, as he said:
"For instance, you see see flamboyance – I was like, OK, that's really beautiful, but I don't feel like that's me. And I also might like girls. It was confusing."

He eventually found a label for himself and is now proudly and openly bisexual. Lacy has observed that homophobia is slightly less extreme than it used to be, more so on the internet. Still, the singer takes care to find spaces where he is safe and accepted.
Fans Were Excited by Steve Lacy and Fousheé's Potential Romance
Fousheé (who previously worked with Lil Wayne and Ravyn Lenae) released the "double standard" music video on April 2022. The visuals featured scenes of her and Lacy getting cozy on an overgrown grass field and kissing.
Fans interpreted the video as an announcement of their newfound romance. One commented, "Fousheé and Steve Lacy together is everything." Another one said, "THEIR DATING? (sic)," while someone else responded, "I wanna know too." Another fan wrote, "That's some beautiful [expletive] imagery there."

Neither Steve Lacy nor Fousheé Addressed the Speculation
Speaking about the video, Fousheé said, "I wanted to feature Steve Lacy in the visualizer/artwork to mostly stir up thought. It's kind of a bold move to make out with someone on artwork for the world to analyze, but that's what the song represents. Breaking the rules."
Still, neither she nor Lacy confirmed or denied if they were dating, which has, so far, been the case with Lacy's reported romantic links. Instead, he and Fousheé collaborated on another song, "Sunshine," in July 2022.
