Having a child has changed Celine Dion's life in more ways than one. After experiencing challenges conceiving, the world-renowned singer welcomed a son, René-Charles Angélil, with her husband, René Angélil.

The expecting mom was in labor for 18 hours before her son was born in Florida on January 25, 2001. Fortunately, René-Charles was born healthy. Finally, all her rounds of vitro fertilization paid off.

Celine's obstetrician, Dr. Ronald Ackerman, shared the emotions everyone had in the room – not a single eye was dry. Celine's good friend, producer David Foster, said:

"This was their dream. It's bigger than any hit record; bigger than anything for them."

René was present during his son's birth and played a significant role by cutting the umbilical cord. Celine then got to hold her precious infant before he was cleaned. It was undoubtedly one of the best moments the couple shared in their life together.

In 2022, Celine shared an Instagram tribute to her son for his 21st birthday, thanking him for being a gift in their lives. According to the "To Love You More" songstress, René-Charles grew up as a kind, brave, and intelligent man. He also became a career-driven person.

René-Charles Angélil Became an Entrepreneur

In 2018, René-Charles Angélil tried his hand at singing, following his mother's footsteps. Celine Dion's son shared two songs on SoundCloud, which quickly topped the charts. Then a teen, René-Charles was speechless over his achievements.

As years passed, René-Charles continued to pursue his passion. In 2021, he released "Casino 5," his EP. Although he remains tight-lipped about his personal life, he describes himself as an entrepreneur on his Instagram bio.

René-Charles Angélil Was 16 When His Father Died

Celine has been raising his son well, unfortunately, single-handedly. At 16, René-Charles Angélil lost his father to cancer. René was 73 when he passed away. During the traditional Catholic funeral held for René, his older son took the podium to deliver an emotional eulogy. He said:

"Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father [...]. You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers. [...] I'll make sure to pass on what I've learned from you."

Two days after his passing, Celine's brother, Daniel, also died from cancer. The devastating moments left Celine distraught, but she has since found the courage to live day by day for her sons.

René-Charles Angélil Has Two Younger Brothers

René-Charles Angélil is the eldest of three boys. Eleven years after his birth, Celine and René welcomed twins Nelson and Eddy. The two boys came after Celine endured one miscarriage and six rounds of IVF.

Celine would have been happy with just one more child, but she was ecstatic to be blessed with two loving boys. Nelson and Eddy were born as fraternal twins in Florida on October 23, 2010. Eddy was named after Dion's producer, Eddy Marnay, who was like her father figure.

Meanwhile, Nelson's name was inspired by Nelson Mandela, who Celine met while on tour. The couple chose the names of people who inspired them.

Celine Dion's sons, René-Charles Angélil, Eddy Angélil, and Nelson Angélil, have been a shining light amidst her health battle. Celine has visibly lost weight in previous months after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare condition that affects mobility.

According to a source, the 55-year-old singer may no longer tour, given her declining health. The pain Celine has been feeling has caused a change in her lifestyle as she experiences difficulty walking. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for the illness.
