James Patterson’s Wife Susan Patterson Is a Talented Writer in Her Own Right
James Patterson's wife, Susan Patterson, proved her husband wasn't the only skillful writer in their relationship after penning a New York Times bestseller. The couple has celebrated decades of marriage, and James Patterson revealed they had a blast after joining forces to write a book together.
During an interview, Susan Patterson revealed that she never thought writing a book would be in the cards for her. But after marrying the world's top-selling author of the past 20 years, she's co-written many books, including a New York Times Bestseller.
In addition to being a talented writer, Susan Patterson is a doting mother and loving wife. In a heartfelt Instagram post, James Patterson revealed that his wife is always there for her loved ones, and her smile brightens his day.

James Patterson Revealed That His Wife Inspires Him Daily
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Education, Susan furthered her education and earned a Master of Fine Arts.
She was also a captain, Big Ten Conference record-holder, and an All-American swimmer during her college days before spending years in advertising as an art director and senior VP at J. Walter Thompson. Susan also dabbled in photography.
However, like her husband, Susan has made a name for herself as an author and has co-written multiple children's books with James, including the New York Times Bestseller "Big Words for Little Geniuses." Her husband shared:
"@suesoliepatterson inspires me every day. She's wonderfully consistent, and I consider that to be a real strength. She's very strong. She listens. She's never not there for her friends and family, and she's pretty much like that all the time."
Susan had amassed over 1,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing and became a staple on her husband's account. In honor of Valentine's Day this year, James shared an adorable snap of him and his wife and revealed their "corny" yet "true and very special" plans for the romantic occasion.
On Mother's Day, James took a trip down memory lane when he shared two throwbacks of Susan and his mom and celebrated them and all the "amazing moms out there."
On May 26, Susan's author husband — who has written about John Lennon and penned the "Alex Cross" series — took to Instagram to share a picture of her smiling and sweetly revealed that her smile was one of the things that brightened his day.
And a few days ago, James, whose Alex Cross character has been portrayed by Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry in movie adaptations, dedicated a heartfelt post to his wife in honor of their anniversary and shared. "[...] I'm grateful to share this incredible journey with you."
James Patterson and Wife Co-create Book Title after Her Mother's Passing
Earlier this year, James and his wife joined forces again to write "Things I Wish I Told My Mother," a book about a mother-daughter adventure inspired by Susan's mother's passing.
While the novel had been under work for a while, the couple came up with the name on the spot over dinner not long after Susan's mother had died. James, who was awarded Patterson the National Humanities Medal by former president Donald Trump in 2019, said:
"I've said this before. I'm so happy for her. It's a cool thing because it's unbelievable fun for her, and it's fun for me too."
James and Susan Patterson Are Proud Parents to a Son
During their marriage, Susan and James welcomed a son, Jack. In December 2022, Jack's famous dad revealed that one of his favorite gifts was the Christmas miracle of his son coming home for the holidays. James turned to Instagram in early February to celebrate his son's birthday.
On May 19, the author gave an update on his son and revealed that Jack had a job he loved, and on May 21, James took a trip down memory lane and shared a photo of him, Susan, and Jack in Cuba on the writer's favorite vacation that he had ever made.
